Tempur-Pedic warrants its mattresses and flat foundations for ten years from the date of purchase shown on your receipt. There is no proration: for the whole ten years the covered product is warranted free from defects in materials and workmanship.
THE SAG THRESHOLD IS THE HEADLINE. Tempur-Pedic covers deterioration causing a visible indentation greater than three-fourths (0.75) of an inch, measured without applying weight or pressure to the mattress, that is not associated with sag resulting from physical abuse or damage. That is a lower bar than every other brand in our comparison, which mostly sit at 1" or 1.5" — a real advantage, and the single strongest argument for the warranty being worth something.
THE FOUNDATION RULES. The mattress needs a firm, solid, non-flexible foundation or an adjustable base. If you use a slatted frame with no additional foundation, the cross slats must measure at least 3 inches wide and no more than 4 inches apart. Rounded bars, support beams and frames that do not meet the specification require a foundation to provide adequate support.
WHAT VOIDS IT. Physical abuse or damage, burns, cuts and liquid damage. The warranty extends to you as the original purchaser and is not transferable to anyone who later buys the product from you.
THE COVER. If the cover is removable, it is separately warranted for ten years against faults in material or workmanship. Pilling on the cover is not covered.
PAPERWORK AND COSTS. Keep the limited warranty document and your sales receipt for at least ten years from purchase — Tempur-Pedic asks for this explicitly. The purchaser is responsible for shipping costs associated with a claim, so ask for the amount before agreeing to anything.
IF YOU BOUGHT FROM A RETAILER. The warranty applies to products bought directly from Tempur-Pedic or from an authorised Tempur-Pedic retailer, and the retailer is a legitimate route for questions and claims. This mirrors the return side, where a retail purchase follows the retailer's return policy rather than Tempur-Pedic's.
