Tempur-Pedic offers a 90-Night Sleep Trial on mattresses bought directly from Tempur-Pedic. That is shorter than most online competitors, several of which run 120 nights to a full year, and it is the single most important thing to know before choosing where to buy.
THE 30-NIGHT ADJUSTMENT PERIOD. Tempur-Pedic asks you to sleep on the mattress for at least 30 nights, because TEMPUR material softens and conforms over roughly the first month. Returns are handled from night 30 through day 90.
THE RETURN SHIPPING FEE. This is the part buyers miss: if Tempur-Pedic cannot resolve your issue, it takes the mattress back and refunds your money minus the return shipping fee. Tempur-Pedic does not publish the amount of that fee on its return-policy page, so ask for the figure in writing when you call.
WHAT CANNOT BE RETURNED. Closeout mattresses are excluded from the 90-night trial entirely and cannot be returned or exchanged — they carry only the 10-year limited warranty. Foundations, TEMPUR-Ease and TEMPUR-Ergo power bases and TEMPUR-Ergo Smart Bases are non-returnable. Pillows, bed linens, frames, mattress toppers, travel and home products and other accessories are returnable only if damaged on delivery or defective. Office chairs are non-returnable.
HOW TO START. Call Tempur-Pedic customer support at 800-821-6621 after 30 nights and within the first 90 days of purchase, or use the online return process in the Tempur-Pedic help centre. Expect the agent to try to resolve the comfort issue first — that is written into the policy.
BOUGHT IN A STORE? Then this policy does not apply to you. Tempur-Pedic states plainly that products bought from a retail store are subject to that retailer's return and exchange policy. A Tempur-Pedic bought at a furniture chain may come with a comfort-exchange programme and a fee instead of a refund, so get the store's written terms before you sign.
THE ACTIVEBREEZE EXCEPTION WORTH KNOWING. The TEMPUR-ActiveBreeze Smart Bed sleep system is included in the 90-night trial, even though other power bases are not returnable.
