What actually matters for older adults
Start with the remote. Backlit buttons, a small number of large controls and programmable memory positions all matter more than the number of massage modes. A remote with a physical flat button gets you back to level in one press, which is what you want at 3 a.m.
Then look at getting in and out. The right seat height is usually where your feet are flat on the floor with knees at roughly a right angle. A standard base plus a thick mattress can put the sleeping surface uncomfortably high, and the fix is either hi-low adjustment or choosing a lower-profile frame.

Zero gravity, head raise, and what they do not do
Zero gravity raises the head and knees so body weight spreads more evenly, and many people simply find it comfortable. A modest head raise is the position people most often use for reading and for feeling less congested lying down.
Those are comfort descriptions. A base position does not treat reflux, apnea, circulation or back pain, and a bed should not replace advice from a clinician about any of them.
Installation, help and service
Adjustable bases are heavy and most require two people to assemble. White-glove delivery — where the crew brings it in, assembles it and removes the packaging — is worth paying for if nobody in the household can lift a 100 lb frame.
Check the motor and electronics warranty separately from the frame warranty. Frames are commonly warranted far longer than motors, and it is the motor and the remote that actually fail.
