Buying Tips for Seniors
Choose a hybrid or innerspring mattress for easier repositioning — memory foam can feel like quicksand for those with limited mobility.
Edge support is crucial. Strong edges let you sit on the bed's side to put on shoes and provide stability when getting up at night.
Adjustable bases pair beautifully with mattresses for seniors — elevating the head helps with acid reflux, snoring, and reading in bed.
Consider a medium-firm (5.5–7) firmness. Too soft can make it hard to get up; too firm aggravates joint pain.
Look for generous trial periods (100+ nights). It takes 2–4 weeks for your body to adjust to a new mattress.
If you have arthritis or chronic pain, prioritize pressure relief (comfort rating 9+) alongside support.
