Does memory foam sag over time?

Beds using 3 lb/ft³ or denser polyfoam plus 4 lb/ft³ or denser memory foam (the Polyurethane Foam Association durability threshold) typically hold their shape for 7-10 years. Cheaper memory foam at 2.5 lb/ft³ density can develop a permanent 1.5-inch impression within 24 months. Always check the spec sheet — density is the single best predictor of long-term durability.

Is memory foam toxic?

Almost never. Modern memory foam mattresses are built as one-way stacks: a soft comfort layer on top, transition foam in the middle, and a dense support base on the bottom. Flipping them puts the support base on top and the comfort foam underneath — uncomfortable and structurally counterproductive. Instead, rotate head-to-foot every 3-6 months to distribute body impressions evenly.
