    Our Review

Pluto built its reputation on fully custom quiz-built pillows, and the Puff is its streamlined, ready-to-ship take on the plush hotel-pillow feel. The construction is smarter than a typical down alternative: a cloud-like microfiber outer surrounds a thin supportive foam core, so you get the sink-in softness of a luxury hotel pillow without the total structural collapse that plagues cheap polyfill options. In testing it was the most immediately comfortable pillow in the plush category — back and stomach sleepers loved the low, compressible loft, and the quilted cover feels genuinely premium. The trade-off is support ceiling: dedicated side sleepers and anyone with chronic neck pain will likely need something firmer or adjustable. It also carries only a 1-year warranty where competitors offer 5. But for sleepers who want that marshmallow feel done right, with a 100-night trial and free shipping, the Puff is the pick.

    What We Love

    • True plush hotel-pillow feel with a supportive foam core underneath
    • Doesn't collapse flat like cheap down-alternative pillows
    • Excellent for back and stomach sleepers
    • 100-night trial and free shipping
    • Premium quilted, washable cover

    Room for Improvement

    • Not supportive enough for most dedicated side sleepers
    • Only a 1-year warranty — shorter than category leaders
    • Not adjustable — what you buy is the loft you get

    Best For

    Hotel pillow vibes at home

I've been chasing that Westin pillow feel forever and this is the closest I've found. As a back sleeper it's perfect — soft on the surface but my head doesn't sink to the mattress.

Lovely but not for side sleeping

Beautifully made pillow and crazy comfortable on my back. When I roll to my side it compresses too much and my neck angles down. Keeping it for back sleeping anyway.

Pluto Puff Pillow: Lab Results & Long-Term Testing

    Tested September 3, 2026 by BT/MR. Verified on plutopillow.com on September 3, 2026.

    Measured in our lab

The Puff is Pluto's off-the-shelf pillow (they also sell fully custom builds), with a hybrid gel foam and fiber fill.

    Our long-term sleep log

45 nights with a combination sleeper.

    1. Night 1

Marshmallow-soft on contact with more support underneath than expected.

    2. Week 2

No hand-fluffing needed, which sets it apart from shredded-fill pillows.

    3. Night 45

      Even loft, no clumping.

    Care, washing & durability

The whole pillow is machine washable — wash cold, tumble low, and let it fully dry. That's a real advantage over pillows with spot-clean-only cores.

If the Puff's loft is wrong for you, Pluto's custom program builds to your measurements for about $40 more. Worth it if you've bought and returned several pillows already.

    The bottom line

A soft, cool, low-maintenance pillow that suits most sleepers without adjustment. The pick for someone who doesn't want to manage loose fill at all.

How We Tested the Pluto Puff Pillow

Here's exactly how we arrived at our scores for the Pluto Pluto Puff Pillow.

    Multi-Position Testing

Each pillow is tested by panelists in side, back, and stomach sleeping positions. We measure loft, compression, and neck alignment across body types.

    Loft & Support Mapping

We measure initial loft, compressed loft under a standardized head weight, and rebound time to quantify support consistency throughout the night.

    Temperature Regulation

Surface temperature is tracked with thermal sensors over 6 hours to evaluate cooling claims and heat retention for different fill materials.

    Shape Retention Testing

We simulate 6 months of use with 5,000 compression cycles and measure loft loss, clumping, and fill migration to project long-term performance.

    Hypoallergenic & Value Review

We verify hypoallergenic claims, assess cover removability and washability, check certifications, and compare price-to-quality within the pillow category.
