Our Expert Take
After tracking Memorial Day mattress sales for the past 7 years, I can tell you this: Memorial Day is genuinely one of the three best times to buy a mattress (alongside Black Friday and Presidents Day). The discounts are real, not inflated-then-discounted games that some retailers play.
In 2025, we saw average discounts of 30–40% from major DTC brands, with some deals reaching 50% off plus free accessories worth $300–500. The key is knowing which brands offer genuine markdowns versus those that simply rebrand their everyday sale prices.
I personally bought my current mattress during Memorial Day 2024 — a DreamCloud Premier for $799 (normally $1,499) with $399 in free pillows and sheets. That deal saved me over $1,000 compared to buying everything at full price during a non-sale period.
Here's what you need to know to get the best deal this Memorial Day, based on our analysis of historical pricing data and early 2026 announcements.
Pro tip: The best Memorial Day mattress deals typically start 1–2 weeks before the holiday and extend through the following Tuesday. The deepest discounts often appear on the Friday before Memorial Day (May 22, 2026).
What to Expect This Memorial Day
DTC Brands (DreamCloud, Nectar, etc.)
Expect 30–50% off with free accessory bundles including pillows, sheets, and mattress protectors. These brands consistently offer their deepest discounts during Memorial Day, often matching or exceeding Black Friday deals.
Premium Brands (Saatva, Purple, Tempur-Pedic)
Premium brands typically offer $200–400 off rather than percentage discounts. Saatva may include free white glove delivery (already included) plus accessories. Purple and Tempur-Pedic are historically less aggressive with discounts.
Budget Brands (Zinus, Siena, Allswell)
Budget brands offer smaller dollar discounts but proportionally larger savings — expect 25–40% off. At already-low price points, even $100 off represents significant savings. Watch for Costco and Amazon additional markdowns.
Organic & Specialty Brands
Organic brands like Avocado, PlushBeds, and Birch rarely discount beyond $200–300 off due to higher material costs. Memorial Day may be the only time some organic brands offer meaningful sales all year.

Memorial Day Mattress Shopping Tips
Start browsing two weeks before Memorial Day. Many brands launch 'early access' sales that match or exceed their Memorial Day prices. If you see a deal you love, grab it — prices rarely drop further.
Stack coupon codes with sale prices. We've found that brands like DreamCloud and Nectar often allow coupon codes even during sales events, adding an extra $50–100 off the already-discounted price.
Don't buy accessories separately. Most Memorial Day bundles include free pillows, sheets, and mattress protectors worth $200–500. Buying these separately at regular prices would cost more than the Memorial Day bundle discount.
Check the trial period carefully. Some sale-priced mattresses have shorter trial periods. We recommend only buying mattresses with at least 100-night trials, regardless of price.
If you're torn between two mattresses, buy them both during Memorial Day and return the one you don't prefer during the trial period. Both will have free returns, and you'll know for certain which one is better for you.
Sign up for brand email lists NOW. Many companies send exclusive early-access deals to email subscribers 24–48 hours before the public sale begins.

Frequently Asked Questions
When do Memorial Day mattress sales start?
Most brands begin their Memorial Day sales 1–2 weeks before the holiday (around May 15). Some brands offer 'early access' sales even earlier to email subscribers. The sales typically extend through the Tuesday after Memorial Day, with some brands running deals through the first week of June.
Are Memorial Day mattress sales real or inflated?
Major DTC brands like DreamCloud, Nectar, and Helix offer genuine discounts during Memorial Day — we verify this by tracking prices year-round. However, some brands maintain near-permanent 'sale' pricing, making Memorial Day feel less special. Our deal tracker identifies which discounts are truly exceptional versus everyday pricing.
Is Memorial Day the best time to buy a mattress?
Memorial Day, Black Friday, and Presidents Day are the three best times to buy a mattress. Memorial Day edges slightly ahead for spring shoppers because brands are clearing inventory before summer. Average savings range from 30–50% off retail prices.
Can I return a mattress bought during a Memorial Day sale?
Yes. All the brands we recommend maintain their standard trial periods during sales events. DreamCloud and Nectar offer 365-night trials, Saatva offers 365 nights, and most others offer 100–120 nights. The trial period applies regardless of whether you paid full price or sale price.
Should I wait for Black Friday instead?
If you need a mattress now, buy it on Memorial Day — the savings are comparable to Black Friday for most brands (within 5–10%). Waiting 6 months for potentially marginally better deals isn't worth sleeping on a bad mattress. The exception: if you want a specific premium brand that historically offers better Black Friday deals.
When does the Saatva Memorial Day 2026 sale end?
Saatva's Memorial Day 2026 sale is expected to run May 15 through May 28, 2026. The deepest discounts typically land the Friday before Memorial Day (May 22) and remain stable through the Tuesday after the holiday.
Is Purple cheaper on Memorial Day or Black Friday?
Purple's Memorial Day and Black Friday discounts are essentially tied — both events take roughly $200–$300 off the Hybrid Premier lineup with a free sheet set. If you need a Purple mattress before summer, Memorial Day is the better choice.
What is the cheapest Memorial Day Queen mattress deal in 2026?
The Nectar Memory Foam Queen at approximately $499 (down from $799) is the cheapest Memorial Day 2026 deal from a major brand with a forever warranty and 365-night trial. The Siena Memory Foam Queen at ~$299 is cheaper but with a shorter 180-night trial.
Do Memorial Day mattress deals include free shipping?
Yes — every major DTC brand (DreamCloud, Nectar, Saatva, Tempur-Pedic, Purple, Helix) includes free shipping during Memorial Day. Saatva goes further with free white glove delivery and old mattress haul-away ($199 value) at no extra cost.
Can I finance a mattress bought on Memorial Day?
Yes. DreamCloud, Nectar, Saatva, Tempur-Pedic, Purple, and Helix all offer 0% APR financing through Affirm or Klarna during Memorial Day. The financing is applied to the post-discount sale price, not MSRP.
Are mattress accessories (pillows, sheets) discounted on Memorial Day?
Most brands include free accessory bundles ($150–$400 value) with mattress purchases during Memorial Day rather than discounting accessories standalone. Buying a mattress bundle is dramatically cheaper than buying the same accessories at regular prices.
What time does the Memorial Day mattress sale end on May 28, 2026?
Most Memorial Day 2026 mattress sales expire at 11:59pm PT on Tuesday, May 28, 2026. A few brands (DreamCloud, Nectar) often extend the sale by 24–48 hours through May 30 — but the deepest pricing is reliably available through May 28.
Is the Tempur-Pedic Breeze on sale for Memorial Day 2026?
Yes. Tempur-Pedic typically discounts the entire Tempur-Breeze cooling lineup (ProBreeze, LuxeBreeze) by $300–$500 during Memorial Day, plus a free Tempur-Cloud pillow with qualifying purchase.
