Our Expert Take
Labor Day mattress sales are the second-biggest savings event of the year, trailing only Black Friday. Having tracked Labor Day deals since 2019, I've found that the discounts are nearly identical to Memorial Day — and sometimes better, as brands push to clear summer inventory before Q4.
Last Labor Day (2025), our readers saved an average of $487 on their mattress purchases by following our deal recommendations. The biggest savings came from DreamCloud ($700 off + $399 accessory bundle) and Nectar ($500 off + free pillows).
One pattern I've noticed: Labor Day is when premium brands like Tempur-Pedic and Stearns & Foster offer their best deals outside of Black Friday. If you're eyeing a luxury mattress, this is your window. Saatva also historically offers their deepest discount during Labor Day.
Here's my complete breakdown of what to expect, which deals to grab, and which to skip this Labor Day 2026.
Pro tip: Labor Day sales often start 2 weeks early and extend a full week after the holiday. The 'extended sale' prices are usually identical to holiday weekend prices, so there's no penalty for shopping late.
What to Expect This Labor Day
Biggest Discounts: DTC Hybrids
Expect DreamCloud, Nectar, and Helix to lead with 40–50% off plus free accessories. These brands use Labor Day to drive Q3 numbers before the Black Friday push.
Best Luxury Deals
Saatva ($400–500 off), Tempur-Pedic ($300 off), and Stearns & Foster ($500 off select models) typically offer their second-best deals of the year during Labor Day.
Back-to-School Specials
Brands like Zinus, Siena, and Allswell often add dorm-friendly bundles — twin mattresses with pillows and sheets at aggressive price points under $300.
Organic & Eco Brands
Avocado, Birch, and PlushBeds tend to offer modest $100–300 discounts. These brands maintain price integrity year-round, so even small discounts are noteworthy.

Labor Day 2026 Sale Timeline
- Aug 15–20
Early-access previews
Email subscribers get first crack at DreamCloud, Nectar, and Helix pricing. Discounts are usually 5% shallower than the holiday weekend, but stock on popular firmness options is full.
- Aug 21–28
Sale goes live sitewide
This is where most brands hit their real Labor Day number. Saatva, WinkBeds, and Brooklyn Bedding typically post their full discount here and hold it flat.
- Aug 29–Sep 1
Holiday weekend peak
Best bundle value of the event — free pillows, sheet sets, and protectors get added on top of the same mattress price. Buy now if you want the accessories.
- Sep 2–9
Extended sale
Prices almost always match the holiday weekend, but accessory bundles shrink and slow-moving sizes sell out. Fine for Queen and King; risky for Twin XL and Split King.
Labor Day Discount History
What we actually recorded each year — not what the ads claimed.
| Year | Average discount | Best deal we logged | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2022 | 28% off | DreamCloud Queen at $999 | First year DTC brands pushed past 25% outside Black Friday. |
| 2023 | 33% off | Nectar Queen at $699 + $499 bundle | Bundles started carrying more value than the price cut itself. |
| 2024 | 38% off | DreamCloud Premier Queen at $949 | Luxury brands joined in — Tempur-Pedic discounted breeze° models for the first time in the fall. |
| 2025 | 41% off | DreamCloud Premier Queen at $899 | Closest Labor Day has come to Black Friday pricing; gap narrowed to roughly 6%. |
| 2026 (projected) | 40–45% off | Expect DreamCloud/Nectar to lead again | Foam input costs are flat year over year, so we expect pricing within $50 of 2025. |
How We Verify Labor Day Deals
We check advertised Labor Day prices against our own price logs going back to 2022, so a 'lowest price ever' claim has to beat a number we actually recorded.
Every coupon code on this page is entered in a live cart before publication. Codes that fail or don't stack with the sale price are removed, not left up for clicks.
Prices shown are Queen unless noted. We re-check Queen pricing for every brand on this page at least twice a week during the sale window.
We flag inflated MSRPs. If a brand raises list price in August so the discount percentage looks bigger, we say so in the deal note instead of repeating the marketing number.
Our recommendations are based on our published ratings and research — a deep discount never moves a mattress onto this page on its own.

Labor Day Mattress Shopping Tips
Compare prices to Memorial Day deals. If you missed Memorial Day, Labor Day offers comparable or better discounts. We maintain price history logs for every major brand.
Look for back-to-school bundles. Some brands add extra value during Labor Day by bundling pillows, bedding, and dorm-sized mattresses at steep discounts — perfect for college students.
Check clearance sections. Brands often discontinue models in September. Last year, we found the previous WinkBed model at 60% off during Labor Day clearance.
Don't forget bedding. Labor Day is also an excellent time to buy sheets, pillows, and mattress protectors. Brooklinen, Parachute, and Cozy Earth all run significant sales.
Use price-match guarantees. If a mattress you bought recently drops further during Labor Day, many brands will refund the difference within 30 days of purchase.
Read our reviews before impulse buying. A 50% discount on a mediocre mattress is still a mediocre mattress. Focus on quality first, price second.

Frequently Asked Questions
When do Labor Day mattress sales start?
Most Labor Day mattress sales begin 2 weeks before the holiday (around August 22) and extend through the first full week of September. Early access for email subscribers often starts even earlier.
Is Labor Day better than Black Friday for mattress deals?
They're comparable — within 5% of each other for most brands. Black Friday occasionally edges ahead with doorbusters, but Labor Day offers more consistent, predictable discounts across all brands. If you need a mattress in fall, don't wait for Black Friday.
Do mattress stores have Labor Day sales too?
Yes. Mattress Firm, Sleep Number stores, and other retailers run significant Labor Day sales. In-store deals sometimes include free adjustable bases (worth $800+) that aren't available online.
Can I combine Labor Day discounts with other offers?
Many DTC brands allow coupon codes during sales events. We test all codes before publishing and note which ones stack with sale prices. Sign up for our email alerts for real-time code verification.
When does the Labor Day 2026 mattress sale end?
Most brands end their Labor Day 2026 promotion on September 9, about a week after the holiday itself (September 7, 2026). Saatva and Tempur-Pedic usually cut off on the holiday Monday, while DreamCloud, Nectar, and Helix run the full extended window.
How much can you actually save on a mattress on Labor Day?
Across the brands we track, the average Labor Day discount in 2025 was 41% off MSRP, or roughly $480 on a Queen. Budget foam beds see the largest percentage cut; luxury hybrids like Tempur-Pedic see the largest dollar savings.
Should I wait for Black Friday instead of buying on Labor Day?
Only if you can sleep comfortably for three more months. Our price logs show Black Friday beats Labor Day by about 6% on average — roughly $60 on a $1,000 Queen. That's rarely worth 12 more weeks on a worn-out mattress.
Are Labor Day mattress prices really discounted, or is the MSRP inflated?
Both happen. Established brands like Saatva and WinkBeds hold steady list prices year-round, so their Labor Day cut is real. Some budget sellers raise list price in August. We compare every advertised price to what we logged the previous month and call out inflated MSRPs in the deal notes.
Do Labor Day mattress deals include free adjustable bases or bedding?
Frequently. In 2025, DreamCloud and Nectar both added accessory bundles worth $399–$599 (pillows, sheets, protector), and several in-store retailers gave away adjustable bases on premium sets. Bundles are usually best during the holiday weekend itself and shrink during the extended sale.
Is Labor Day a good time to buy an adjustable base or bedding?
Yes — adjustable bases are often discounted 20–40% alongside mattresses, and sheet and pillow brands run parallel sales. If you're buying a mattress anyway, bundling the base in the same order usually beats buying it separately in October.
