Comfy Mattress Topper Overview
Casper's Comfy Mattress Topper uses perforated AirScape foam over a memory foam core to add medium-soft contour without the sealed-in heat of flat memory foam.
Our Hands-On Experience
The perforated AirScape top layer is the design decision that separates this from generic memory foam toppers. Those channels let air move laterally, and in our overnight testing the surface avoided the sealed-in warmth that flat memory foam produces by about hour three.
Feel is medium-soft with a slightly buoyant top and a memory foam core that provides the actual contour. It is a good match for a mattress that is firm but not punishing — roughly a 7/10 you want to bring to a 5.5.
At $249 it sits between the budget foam toppers and the TEMPUR tier, which is a sensible place to be. It is well made and machine-washable at the cover, but heavier sleepers should still expect to feel the base mattress within a couple of years.
Our Ratings
Our Review
Casper's Comfy Topper stacks perforated AirScape foam over a memory foam core and a supportive base layer — the same comfort system as their mattresses, shrunk to 3 inches. The perforations move noticeably more air than solid memory foam, and the stretch-knit cover feels premium. It softens a too-firm mattress by roughly one full firmness point without the stuck-in-the-bed feel of cheap foam.
What We Love
- Perforated top layer sleeps cooler than standard memory foam
- Three-layer build adds real support, not just softness
- Stretch-knit removable cover
- Backed by Casper's 30-night home trial
- Noticeably quieter than latex for restless sleepers
Room for Improvement
- Only 30-night trial — shortest among premium picks
- 1-year warranty is thin for the price
- Not firm enough to rescue a sagging mattress
- Spot-clean cover only

Fixed my too-firm hybrid
My new mattress felt like a board. Three nights on the Comfy and my shoulder pain is gone. It does sleep a touch warmer than the wool topper I tried first, but the pressure relief is better.
How We Tested the Comfy Mattress Topper
Every mattress we review goes through our rigorous, multi-step evaluation process. Here's exactly how we arrived at our scores for the Casper Comfy Mattress Topper.
Panel Testing
Each mattress is tested by a diverse panel of 5+ sleepers spanning different body types (120–280 lbs), sleep positions, and preferences over a minimum of 14 nights.
Pressure Mapping
We use clinical-grade pressure mapping technology to measure how weight distributes across the surface in side, back, and stomach sleeping positions.
Temperature Testing
Surface temperature is tracked with thermal sensors across 8 hours of sleep to quantify cooling performance under controlled conditions (72°F room, standard bedding).
Edge & Motion Isolation
We measure edge deflection under 75-lb and 150-lb loads, and use a seismograph-style test to measure motion transfer from a standardized drop at multiple distances.
Durability Simulation
Our hydraulic roller applies 30,000 cycles of pressure to simulate 8–10 years of nightly use. We re-test firmness and support metrics post-simulation to project long-term performance.
Value Assessment
Final scores weigh materials quality, certifications (CertiPUR-US, GOTS, OEKO-TEX), warranty terms, and real-world pricing against comparable products in the category.
Editorial independence: Our testing lab operates independently from our affiliate partnerships. Brands cannot pay for higher scores or influence our methodology. Read our full editorial policy and detailed testing methodology.
