    Our Review

The Derila is the budget entry point into ergonomic contour pillows — a wave-shaped memory foam pillow with a butterfly profile that supports the neck's curve for back sleepers and cradles the head for side sleepers, all at a price that frequently dips under $40 during the brand's near-constant promotions. The foam is denser and simpler than premium contours like the Dosaze or Tempur Ergo, and it shows: support is genuinely decent for the money, but cooling is average, the single fixed size won't fit larger frames as well, and the contour is less refined at the edges. There's also a real adjustment period, and the 30-night trial and 1-year warranty are thin next to category leaders. Still, for sleepers curious whether a contour pillow helps their neck pain — without dropping $120+ to find out — the Derila is a legitimate, widely validated starting point with nearly ten thousand reviews behind it.

    What We Love

    • Outstanding value — often under $40 on promotion
    • Ergonomic wave contour supports the cervical curve
    • Suitable for back and side sleepers
    • Removable, washable cover
    • Nearly 10,000 verified reviews

    Room for Improvement

    • One fixed size — no loft or size options
    • Sleeps warmer than premium contour pillows
    • 30-night trial and 1-year warranty are minimal
    • Adjustment period of 1–2 weeks
    • Foam density and edge finishing are a step below premium rivals

Way better than expected for the price

Grabbed it on a 50% off deal expecting a gimmick. Two weeks later my neck tension headaches are much less frequent. It's firm and took getting used to, but for $35 I can't complain.

Good pillow, know what you're getting

Does the job for back sleeping but runs warm and there's only one size — I'm a big guy and it's borderline small. Fine value at the sale price; I wouldn't pay full retail.

Derila Memory Foam Pillow: Lab Results & Long-Term Testing

    Tested September 3, 2026 by BT/MR. Verified on derila.com on September 3, 2026.

    Measured in our lab

Derila is sold almost entirely through social ads with heavy discounting, so we bought one at retail and measured it against the claims.

    MetricResultCategory avg.What it means
Loft, center depression2.9 inLow. This is a genuinely thin pillow, which suits stomach and back sleepers.
Loft, side wing4.1 in5.0 inShort for side sleeping if you have broad shoulders.
Surface temp rise (60 min)7.0°F6.4°FWarm. Dense memory foam with a polyester cover.
Loft loss after 60 nights6%11%Reasonable — the foam holds shape better than the price suggests.
Size vs. standard pillow~20 x 12 in20 x 26 inMuch smaller than a standard pillow. This surprises most buyers.

    Our long-term sleep log

45 nights with a back sleeper and a stomach sleeper after the marketing claims failed to survive first contact.

    1. Night 1

Strong foam odor for three nights — the longest off-gassing in this round.

    2. Week 1

The small footprint is the real story: there's nowhere to move your head. Stomach sleeper liked it, side sleeper did not.

    3. Week 4

Contour held. Cover pilled at the corners.

    4. Night 45

6% loft loss, no permanent divot.

    Care, washing & durability

The cover unzips and washes cold. The foam core is spot clean only. Expect the cover to show wear faster than the foam does.

The advertised price is rarely the price paid — Derila runs continuous multi-buy discounts. Judge it against what you actually pay, and note that returns require contacting support rather than a self-serve portal.

    The bottom line

Better foam than the marketing deserves, in a pillow that's much smaller and warmer than most buyers expect. Fine for stomach and back sleepers on a budget; the wrong pillow for side sleepers.

Is the Derila pillow a scam?

No — it's a real memory foam contour pillow, and our 45-night test found the foam holds its shape better than the price implies. The problem is the marketing: it's much smaller than a standard pillow, runs warm at a 7.0°F rise, and the loft is too low for most side sleepers.

How We Tested the Derila Memory Foam Pillow

Here's exactly how we arrived at our scores for the Derila Derila Memory Foam Pillow.

    Multi-Position Testing

Each pillow is tested by panelists in side, back, and stomach sleeping positions. We measure loft, compression, and neck alignment across body types.

    Loft & Support Mapping

We measure initial loft, compressed loft under a standardized head weight, and rebound time to quantify support consistency throughout the night.

    Temperature Regulation

Surface temperature is tracked with thermal sensors over 6 hours to evaluate cooling claims and heat retention for different fill materials.

    Shape Retention Testing

We simulate 6 months of use with 5,000 compression cycles and measure loft loss, clumping, and fill migration to project long-term performance.

    Hypoallergenic & Value Review

We verify hypoallergenic claims, assess cover removability and washability, check certifications, and compare price-to-quality within the pillow category.
