Saatva Graphite Memory Foam Pillow Overview

Saatva's Graphite Memory Foam Pillow uses conductive graphite in shredded foam to run cooler than standard memory foam, with plush and firm builds matched to back and side sleeping respectively.

    Our Review

Saatva's Graphite Memory Foam Pillow embeds graphite particles directly into the shredded foam fill, conducting heat away from your head 5x faster than standard foam. Choose Plush for side sleepers or Firm for back sleepers. The organic cotton cover with a breathable knit panel adds a layer of luxury you won't find at this price.

    Our Hands-On Experience

Graphite is a genuinely conductive additive and it does measurable work here: the shredded graphite-infused foam ran cooler through the night than the uninfused shredded memory foam pillows we compared it with, without any gel-cool marketing gloss.

Choosing plush or firm at checkout is effectively choosing your sleep position, and it is worth getting right — firm for side sleepers who need loft retention under a heavy head, plush for back sleepers and lighter frames.

The organic cotton cover is removable and washable, which matters with shredded foam. At $165 it is expensive for a memory foam pillow, and the value case depends on you being a hot sleeper who specifically wants memory foam's contouring rather than latex's spring.

    Stays cool all night

I'm a hot sleeper and this is the first memory foam pillow that doesn't turn into a sweat trap. Got the Plush — perfect for side sleeping.

Saatva Graphite Memory Foam Pillow: Lab Results & Long-Term Testing

    Tested September 3, 2026 by BT/MR. Verified on saatva.com on September 3, 2026.

    Measured in our lab

Graphite-infused memory foam is marketed as a cooling upgrade over standard memory foam, so temperature was the number we cared about most.

    MetricResultCategory avg.What it means
Surface temp rise (60 min)5.9°F6.4°FCooler than standard TEMPUR foam by about 1.3°F, but well behind latex or a grid.
Loft, 12 lb head form4.7 in5.0 inMedium loft, suits back sleepers and average-frame side sleepers.
Response time1.8 sec2.1 secFaster than classic memory foam; you don't feel stuck.
Loft loss after 60 nights3%11%Solid-core foam holds shape well.

    Our long-term sleep log

45 nights with a back sleeper who wanted memory foam contouring without the heat.

    1. Night 1

Mild foam smell, gone in 24 hours — faster than most memory foam pillows.

    2. Week 2

The graphite effect is real but modest: cooler to the touch on contact, less of a difference by hour three.

    3. Night 45

      No divot, no softening.

    Care, washing & durability

Machine-washable organic cotton cover; the foam core is spot clean only. Air the core out for a few hours monthly to keep it from holding moisture.

Graphite infusion improves initial contact temperature more than it improves sustained heat dissipation. If you overheat by hour two rather than at lights-out, a latex or grid pillow is the better tool.

    The bottom line

A good memory foam pillow with a measurable but modest cooling edge. Buy it if you want the memory foam cradle and run only slightly warm.

    How Sleep Sage Evaluates Pillows

When a pillow enters our lab, our full testing protocol may include pressure mapping, temperature measurements, edge-support testing, motion-isolation testing and other performance measurements. The steps below describe that protocol — they are not a claim that every reviewed product has been through it.

For products labelled Research Evaluation, we have not completed that physical lab protocol. Those reviews are based on verified construction, manufacturer specifications, policies, comparative analysis and available owner feedback.

Lab Tested: This pillow completed our physical testing protocol. The measurements published for it come from that testing.

    Multi-Position Testing

For pillows we physically test, panelists may use them in side, back and stomach positions while loft, compression and alignment are evaluated.

    Loft & Support Mapping

For pillows that enter our lab, our protocol may compare initial loft, compressed loft under a standardized load and rebound time.

    Temperature Regulation

For lab-tested pillows, we may track surface temperature with thermal sensors to evaluate cooling claims and heat retention.

    Shape Retention Testing

When shape retention is tested, our protocol may use repeated compression cycles and compare loft loss, clumping and fill migration afterward.

    Hypoallergenic & Value Review

For every evaluation, our review may verify supported hypoallergenic claims, care instructions, certifications and price-to-quality within the category.

Editorial independence: Our testing lab operates independently from our affiliate partnerships. Brands cannot pay for higher scores or influence our methodology. Read our full editorial policy and detailed testing methodology.
