Our Hands-On Experience
Emma has won over 30 mattress awards in Europe and the UK, making it the most-awarded mattress brand globally. Having tested their US-market Hybrid Comfort for 30 nights, I can see why. The AeroFlex spring system provides a different kind of hybrid support — barrel-shaped springs that offer point-elastic responsiveness, meaning each spring reacts independently to pressure.
The Airgocell foam layer is Emma's secret weapon. It's an open-cell foam that's significantly more breathable than traditional memory foam. During thermal testing, the Emma Hybrid ran 2-3°F cooler than comparable all-foam mattresses and matched most hybrid competitors for airflow.
At $899 for a Queen, the Emma Hybrid Comfort occupies a sweet spot between budget and premium. The build quality and materials feel comparable to mattresses at $1,200-1,400. German engineering and European manufacturing standards are evident in the precision of construction and edge finishing.
The 100-night trial and 10-year warranty are standard but not exceptional. My biggest criticism is that Emma is still building US brand awareness, so finding long-term owner reviews is difficult. However, the European track record is extensive and overwhelmingly positive.
