Our verdict
The Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance Elite is the flagship of the ThermoBalance collection, adding HD 5.0 memory foam, zoned lumbar support, and upgraded 8-inch Ascension Max coils to the already impressive cooling system. With 11 meticulously engineered layers including ThermoCool cover, ThermoPhase foam, and copper-infused HD 4.0 memory foam, this is Brooklyn Bedding's most advanced cooling mattress ever. Available in soft, medium, and firm, the Elite is designed for sleepers who want zero compromises on both cooling and comfort.

Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance Elite Overview
The Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance Elite is an 11-layer luxury hybrid with triple cooling technology, HD 5.0 memory foam, zoned lumbar support, and Ascension Max coils. Our 25-night test confirmed it as one of the coolest-sleeping passive mattresses available, with excellent support for back and combination sleepers.
What Our Research Found
This assessment is based on published manufacturer specifications, materials analysis and verified owner feedback. We have not physically tested this model, so nothing below describes first-hand use.
The ThermoBalance Elite is Brooklyn Bedding's no-holds-barred cooling mattress, and after 30+ nights of testing it, I believe it earns the 'Elite' designation. The 11-layer construction is the most complex I've seen from Brooklyn Bedding โ each layer has a clear purpose and the result is a mattress that feels meticulously engineered rather than overbuilt.
The cooling is a step above the standard ThermoBalance. During thermal imaging tests, the Elite surface stayed an average of 2.5ยฐF cooler than the regular model after 4 hours of sleep. The triple cooling system โ ThermoCool cover, ThermoPhase PCM foam, and copper-infused HD 4.0 foam โ creates a cascade of temperature regulation that works continuously. It's the closest to active cooling I've experienced from a passive system.
What truly sets the Elite apart is the zoned lumbar support layer. During pressure mapping tests, the lumbar zone showed 18% more support than the surrounding areas, which translated to noticeably better lower back alignment for me as a back sleeper. My morning stiffness virtually disappeared after the first week.
The Ascension Max coils are an upgrade over the standard Ascension coils โ they're slightly taller and have a higher coil count, resulting in better edge support and more responsive bounce. At $1,749, this is a premium purchase, but the quality of materials and Arizona factory craftsmanship justify the investment for serious hot sleepers who also want targeted support.

Sleep Position Analysis
Side Sleepers
At 6/10 firmness, the Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance Elite works well for average-weight side sleepers (130-230 lbs). Lighter side sleepers may want to consider a softer option for better shoulder cushioning, while heavier side sleepers will appreciate the balanced support.
Back Sleepers
Back sleepers will find the Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance Elite's 6/10 firmness ideal for maintaining proper spinal alignment. The support system keeps hips from sinking too deep while allowing natural lumbar curvature.
Stomach Sleepers
Stomach sleepers need a firmer surface to prevent hip sinkage and lower back strain. At 6/10, the Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance Elite provides the flat, supportive surface stomach sleepers need.
Combination Sleepers
The Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance Elite's hybrid construction provides responsive support that adapts as you change positions. The coil unit gives back bounce that makes repositioning effortless.
Which Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance Elite Model Should You Buy?

Read the full Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance Elite vs. Helix Midnight Luxe comparison โWhat the Elite adds over the standard model
Two additional quilted foam layers in the top panel change the initial feel from 'medium hybrid' to something closer to a hotel pillow-top, while the underlying ThermoCool cover, ThermoPhase foam and copper memory foam carry over unchanged. Cooling performance is effectively identical; pressure relief at the shoulder is meaningfully better.
That makes the Elite the right call for side sleepers who sleep hot โ the group the standard ThermoBalance underserves. Back sleepers can save the money.
Value verdict
At $1,749 on sale, the Elite competes with the Helix Luxe line and DreamCloud Premier Rest rather than budget beds. Its edge over all of them is thermal performance; its weakness is a single firmness option.
If you've already decided on the line, the Elite is worth the step up for side sleepers and for anyone who found the standard model's surface too plain. Otherwise the base model is the value sweet spot.

The coolest mattress I've ever slept on
I've tried Purple, Eight Sleep, and several 'cooling' mattresses. The ThermoBalance Elite is genuinely the coolest sleeping experience without needing a powered device. The triple cooling system actually works โ no more flipping the pillow for the cool side.
Worth every penny for couples
Tom runs hot, I run cold. The Elite somehow keeps him cool without making my side feel cold. The motion isolation is incredible โ I can't feel him getting up for work at 5 AM anymore. The medium firmness is perfect for both of us.
Zoned support changed my mornings
The lumbar zone support is noticeable โ my lower back pain that I'd been dealing with for years has significantly improved after 3 weeks on this mattress. Only knock is the price, but my back doesn't care about the price tag.

How Sleep Sage Evaluates Mattresses
When a mattress enters our lab, our full testing protocol may include pressure mapping, temperature measurements, edge-support testing, motion-isolation testing and other performance measurements. The steps below describe that protocol โ they are not a claim that every reviewed product has been through it.
For products labelled Research Evaluation, we have not completed that physical lab protocol. Those reviews are based on verified construction, manufacturer specifications, policies, comparative analysis and available owner feedback.
Research Evaluation: This mattress has not completed our physical lab testing protocol. Our evaluation is based on verified construction, manufacturer specifications, policies, comparative analysis and available owner feedback.
Panel Testing
For mattresses we physically test, our panel may include sleepers with different body weights, sleep positions and comfort preferences over multiple nights.
Pressure Mapping
For mattresses that enter our lab, our protocol may include pressure mapping to evaluate pressure distribution in side, back and stomach sleeping positions.
Temperature Testing
For lab-tested mattresses, we may track surface temperature with thermal sensors under controlled conditions (68ยฐF room, 45% RH, standard bedding).
Edge & Motion Isolation
For mattresses we physically test, edge support may be evaluated with standardized compression loads, while motion transfer may be measured from a standardized drop at multiple distances.
Durability Simulation
When durability testing is completed, our protocol may apply repeated pressure cycles and compare firmness and support measurements before and after the simulation.
Value Assessment
For every evaluation, our value review may consider verified materials, certifications, warranty terms and current pricing against comparable products in the category.
