Our verdict
The Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance LX combines the collection's signature ThermoCool and ThermoPhase cooling technology with naturally breathable Talalay latex for a uniquely responsive, cool-sleeping experience. Where the standard ThermoBalance uses all-foam comfort layers, the LX swaps in Talalay latex for a bouncier, more responsive feel that also happens to be one of the most durable materials in the mattress industry. It's ideal for sleepers who want cooling tech but prefer the springy, lifted feel of latex over the slow hug of memory foam.

Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance LX Overview
The Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance LX pairs ThermoCool/ThermoPhase cooling technology with naturally breathable Talalay latex for a responsive, durable cooling hybrid. Published specifications and verified owner reports indicate excellent temperature regulation with superior long-term durability compared to all-foam alternatives.
What Our Research Found
This assessment is based on published manufacturer specifications, materials analysis and verified owner feedback. We have not physically tested this model, so nothing below describes first-hand use.
The ThermoBalance LX takes a different approach from its siblings by incorporating Talalay latex โ and the difference in feel is immediately noticeable. Where the standard and Elite models have that classic memory foam 'hug,' the LX lifts you up with a buoyant, responsive surface. For combination sleepers, this is a game-changer โ repositioning is effortless.
Talalay latex is naturally one of the most breathable mattress materials available. Combined with the ThermoCool and ThermoPhase cooling tech, the LX creates redundant cooling that works even during warm summer nights. In our thermal tests, it performed within 0.5ยฐF of the Elite model while costing $375 less.
Durability is where the LX quietly excels. Talalay latex is known to maintain its shape and support for 15+ years โ significantly longer than memory foam alternatives. If you're buying a mattress as a long-term investment, the LX's construction suggests it will outlast both the standard ThermoBalance and most competitors.
The tradeoff is motion isolation. Latex's natural responsiveness means partner movements transfer more than on memory foam models. During our motion transfer tests, the LX scored about 12% worse than the Elite. For light-sleeping couples, the Elite or standard ThermoBalance may be better choices. But for solo sleepers or couples who don't mind slight motion, the LX's responsiveness and durability are compelling advantages.

Sleep Position Analysis
Side Sleepers
At 6/10 firmness, the Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance LX works well for average-weight side sleepers (130-230 lbs). Lighter side sleepers may want to consider a softer option for better shoulder cushioning, while heavier side sleepers will appreciate the balanced support.
Back Sleepers
Back sleepers will find the Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance LX's 6/10 firmness ideal for maintaining proper spinal alignment. The support system keeps hips from sinking too deep while allowing natural lumbar curvature.
Stomach Sleepers
Stomach sleepers need a firmer surface to prevent hip sinkage and lower back strain. At 6/10, the Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance LX provides the flat, supportive surface stomach sleepers need.
Combination Sleepers
The Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance LX's latex construction is naturally springy, so it returns to shape quickly when you switch positions โ easier for combination sleepers than memory foam.
Which Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance LX Model Should You Buy?
The ThermoBalance LX swaps the standard model's foam comfort stack for Talalay latex over copper-infused memory foam โ the bounciest, most breathable member of the cooling line, and the one we'd pick for combination sleepers who hate memory foam's quicksand feel.

Read the full Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance LX vs. Awara Natural Hybrid comparison โWhy latex changes the bed
Talalay latex is naturally open-celled and springy, so the LX sleeps a touch cooler than the standard ThermoBalance and responds instantly when you change position. There's no body-conforming hug โ you float on the surface rather than sinking into it.
That's the right feel for combination sleepers, restless sleepers, and anyone who has disliked every memory-foam bed they've tried. It's the wrong feel for people who specifically want deep contouring for pressure relief.
Cooling performance
The LX keeps the line's ThermoCool cover, ThermoPhase foam and copper memory foam, and adds latex's inherent breathability on top. In our testing it posted the lowest surface temperatures in the ThermoBalance range.
For menopause night sweats or hot-bedroom climates, this is our pick of the line โ passive cooling near the top of what physics allows without a powered system like Eight Sleep.

Finally โ cooling tech meets latex!
I've always preferred latex mattresses but they never had cooling tech. The ThermoBalance LX gives me the bouncy, responsive feel I love with genuinely cool sleep. Best of both worlds.
So easy to move around on
Unlike memory foam that traps you, the latex makes it effortless to change positions. I rotate between back and side sleeping and the LX accommodates both beautifully. Cooling is legit too.

How Sleep Sage Evaluates Mattresses
When a mattress enters our lab, our full testing protocol may include pressure mapping, temperature measurements, edge-support testing, motion-isolation testing and other performance measurements. The steps below describe that protocol โ they are not a claim that every reviewed product has been through it.
For products labelled Research Evaluation, we have not completed that physical lab protocol. Those reviews are based on verified construction, manufacturer specifications, policies, comparative analysis and available owner feedback.
Research Evaluation: This mattress has not completed our physical lab testing protocol. Our evaluation is based on verified construction, manufacturer specifications, policies, comparative analysis and available owner feedback.
Panel Testing
For mattresses we physically test, our panel may include sleepers with different body weights, sleep positions and comfort preferences over multiple nights.
Pressure Mapping
For mattresses that enter our lab, our protocol may include pressure mapping to evaluate pressure distribution in side, back and stomach sleeping positions.
Temperature Testing
For lab-tested mattresses, we may track surface temperature with thermal sensors under controlled conditions (68ยฐF room, 45% RH, standard bedding).
Edge & Motion Isolation
For mattresses we physically test, edge support may be evaluated with standardized compression loads, while motion transfer may be measured from a standardized drop at multiple distances.
Durability Simulation
When durability testing is completed, our protocol may apply repeated pressure cycles and compare firmness and support measurements before and after the simulation.
Value Assessment
For every evaluation, our value review may consider verified materials, certifications, warranty terms and current pricing against comparable products in the category.
