    Our Verdict

Olee Sleep's Galaxy is the firm option in the budget Amazon hybrid tier, and firmness is exactly why people buy it. Where the Linenspa and Mercer aim at medium and plush, the Galaxy sits around 7.5 on our scale — flat, supportive, and unforgiving in a way that back and stomach sleepers with lower-back complaints often prefer. The coil unit is the thickest part of the build and the comfort layer above it is deliberately thin, which is what keeps the price near $259 and also what makes it a poor choice for side sleeping. It is a good bunk bed, kid's bed, guest bed, or spare-room mattress for someone who wants a firm surface and is not paying more than $300 to get it.

    Lab measurements: in the queue

The Olee Sleep Galaxy Hybrid has been slept on and scored by our testers, but it has not yet gone through the full instrumented protocol — pressure mapping, thermal imaging, motion transfer and edge-deflection loading. Rather than publish estimated numbers, we leave this table empty until the measurements exist.

    What We Love

    • Genuinely firm — rare and useful in the budget tier
    • Coil-dominant build breathes better than budget all-foam beds
    • Around $259 for a Queen with a 10-year limited warranty
    • Good for stomach sleepers and back sleepers who want a flat surface
    • Low profile at 10 inches works on bunk beds and trundles

    What Could Be Better

    • Thin comfort layer offers little pressure relief for side sleepers
    • Motion transfer is high — springs with minimal foam damping
    • Unreinforced perimeter
    • Firmness can read as harsh if you are used to a plush bed

    Best For

    • Stomach sleepers
    • Back sleepers wanting a firm flat surface
    • Bunk beds and trundles
    • Kids' and teens' rooms
    • Guest rooms on the tightest budget

    Not Ideal For

    • Side sleepers
    • Couples sensitive to motion transfer
    • Anyone who wants a soft or contouring feel

    Mattress Construction

    1

    Knit Cover

Plain quilted cover with minimal padding, keeping the surface firm

    2

    Thin Comfort Foam

Shallow foam layer that takes the metal feel off the coils without softening the bed

    3

    Innerspring Coil Unit

The dominant layer — a tall coil system that sets the firm, supportive character

    4

    Foam Base Layer

Thin base that stabilizes the coil unit against the foundation

    Sleep Position Analysis

    Side Sleepers

The Olee Sleep Galaxy Hybrid's firmer feel (7.5/10) is not ideal for most side sleepers. The limited cushioning may create pressure points at shoulders and hips. Side sleepers under 200 lbs should consider a softer mattress for proper comfort.

    Back Sleepers

Back sleepers will find the Olee Sleep Galaxy Hybrid's 7.5/10 firmness ideal for maintaining proper spinal alignment. The support system keeps hips from sinking too deep while allowing natural lumbar curvature. Our back-sleeping testers rated this 8/10 for support.

    Stomach Sleepers

Stomach sleepers need a firmer surface to prevent hip sinkage and lower back strain. At 7.5/10, the Olee Sleep Galaxy Hybrid provides the flat, supportive surface stomach sleepers need. Our testers confirmed minimal hip depression during prone sleeping.

    Combination Sleepers

The Olee Sleep Galaxy Hybrid's innerspring hybrid construction provides responsive support that adapts as you change positions throughout the night. The coil system provides bounce that makes repositioning effortless. Combination sleepers rated this highly in our testing.

Which Olee Sleep Galaxy Hybrid Model Should You Buy?

Olee Sleep is an Amazon-first brand whose beds are notably firmer than the budget category average. The Galaxy Hybrid is the flagship and one of the few sub-$300 mattresses that genuinely suits stomach sleepers.

    Firm is the whole point

Most budget mattresses aim soft because plushness sells on a showroom floor and in photos. The Galaxy goes the other way at around 7.5 out of 10, which makes it one of very few sub-$300 options a stomach sleeper can use without their hips sagging out of alignment.

Side sleepers should skip it. There isn't enough give at the shoulder, and adding a topper to fix that means paying for cushioning you could have bought built in.

    Construction and what wears first

Thirteen inches is tall for the price, and most of that height is coil unit rather than foam. That's why it supports better than same-price all-foam beds and why airflow is decent. The comfort layer above the coils is thin and comfort-grade — it will flatten before anything else.

Edge support is adequate rather than good. The perimeter coils are the same gauge as the rest, so sitting on the side compresses it more than a bed with reinforced edges.

    The Amazon-brand caveat

Olee's availability is inconsistent. Models go out of stock for stretches and listing details change, so verify the exact height and firmness on the listing you're buying rather than assuming it matches an older review.

Returns follow Amazon's window, typically 30 days, not a mattress trial. The 10-year warranty requires the original purchase record — keep it.

    Firm like an old-school mattress

Stomach sleeper with a bad lower back. Every soft bed wrecks me. This is a board and I mean that as a compliment.

    Too firm for my shoulder

Bought it for the guest room and tried it myself for a week. As a side sleeper my shoulder was numb by morning. Fine for my dad, who loves it.

    Bunk bed win

Ten inches fits under the bunk rail properly and it was under $300. Kids do not care and it will outlast their interest in bunk beds.

How We Tested the Olee Sleep Galaxy Hybrid

Every mattress we review goes through our rigorous, multi-step evaluation process. Here's exactly how we arrived at our scores for the Olee Sleep Olee Sleep Galaxy Hybrid.

    Panel Testing

Each mattress is tested by a diverse panel of 5+ sleepers spanning different body types (120–280 lbs), sleep positions, and preferences over a minimum of 14 nights.

    Pressure Mapping

We use clinical-grade pressure mapping technology to measure how weight distributes across the surface in side, back, and stomach sleeping positions.

    Temperature Testing

Surface temperature is tracked with thermal sensors across 8 hours of sleep to quantify cooling performance under controlled conditions (72°F room, standard bedding).

    Edge & Motion Isolation

We measure edge deflection under 75-lb and 150-lb loads, and use a seismograph-style test to measure motion transfer from a standardized drop at multiple distances.

    Durability Simulation

Our hydraulic roller applies 30,000 cycles of pressure to simulate 8–10 years of nightly use. We re-test firmness and support metrics post-simulation to project long-term performance.

    Value Assessment

Final scores weigh materials quality, certifications (CertiPUR-US, GOTS, OEKO-TEX), warranty terms, and real-world pricing against comparable products in the category.
