The 15.5-inch profile is the tallest in our lineup, and the extra height translates to more material for support and comfort.
The 5-zone natural Talalay latex comfort layer is the standout feature. Each zone provides different firmness levels — softer under shoulders, firmer under lumbar, reinforced at edges. For heavier bodies that compress mattresses more, this zoned approach maintains proper spinal alignment that standard mattresses can't achieve at higher weight levels.

The HD uses a 12.5-gauge steel coil base — thicker wire than almost anything else sold direct — with a high-density latex comfort layer and a zoned lumbar band. Latex is chosen over memory foam for the same reason Big Fig chooses it: it resists permanent compression under sustained load.
Saatva rates the HD for sleepers 300–500 lb. Below about 250 lb it is simply a very firm bed and the Classic is the better buy; the HD's engineering only pays off when there is enough weight to compress the comfort layer meaningfully.

White-glove delivery matters more here than in any other category: a queen HD weighs roughly 155 lb and manoeuvring it up a staircase alone is not realistic. Saatva includes installation and old-mattress removal at no cost, and this is the concrete reason we rate it above the boxed alternatives despite the higher price.
The 365-night trial and lifetime warranty are also the most generous terms in the high-weight category. Note that returns after the trial incur a $99 pickup fee, which is standard for Saatva.
One caution: the HD is 15.5 inches tall. Combined with a standard foundation, the top of the mattress can sit above 30 inches, which is high for shorter sleepers or anyone with mobility limitations. Saatva sells a low-profile foundation for exactly this reason — specify it at checkout.
