The Plank Firm is Brooklyn Bedding's answer for people who think every mattress on the market is too soft. This review covers the 10-inch all-foam Plank Firm — not the 12-inch Plank Firm Luxe, which is the hybrid version with an extra-firm coil core. The Plank Firm is flippable, with a firm side rated about 7/10 and an ultra-firm side closer to 9/10, so you can change your mind about firmness without returning the bed. On the ultra-firm side, spinal alignment for stomach sleepers measured the flattest of anything we researched; back sleepers over 230 lbs also benefit from how little the surface gives. This is not a pressure-relief mattress: side sleepers will feel shoulder and hip pressure quickly, and the surface feels punishing for the first week. Queen list price is $1,332 and Brooklyn Bedding discounts it most weeks of the year, with a 120-night trial and a limited lifetime warranty.

The Plank Firm is a niche product for people who genuinely prefer a very firm surface. This is the 10-inch all-foam, flippable model — not the 12-inch Plank Firm Luxe hybrid, which is a different mattress with a coil core. One side is about 7/10, the other closer to 9.5/10, which makes it the firmest surface we cover.
Stomach sleepers benefit most. A flat, unyielding surface stops the hips sinking below the shoulders, which is the alignment problem behind most stomach-sleeping back pain. Side sleepers should skip it: at this firmness the shoulder and hip have nowhere to go.
The flippable design is the clever part. Even within firm, having two levels lets you change your mind after the first week without returning the mattress — and the break-in period is real, so give the firm side time before you flip.
Brooklyn Bedding builds it in its own factory and discounts it most weeks of the year, so a $1,332 queen usually lands nearer $999. The trial is 120 nights and the warranty is a limited lifetime warranty. Just be sure you actually prefer firm before committing.

Very. The extra-firm side of the Plank is closer to a padded floor than a conventional mattress — high-density foam with almost no sink. It exists because a real population (strict stomach sleepers, many back-pain sufferers, people who grew up on firm Asian-style bedding) genuinely sleeps better on it.
Most buyers should start on the 7/10 firm side and only flip if they still want more. The flippable design means an over-commitment to firmness is fixable without a return.
