Why Trial Length Actually Matters
Your body needs 30–60 nights to adjust to a new mattress — foam needs time to break in, and your spine needs time to de-adapt from your old bed's sag. A 100-night trial barely covers that window. A 365-night trial covers it through all four seasons, which matters because temperature changes how memory foam feels by up to 2 firmness points. Every mattress on this list offers at least 120 nights with genuinely free returns — we verified each policy directly.
- Give any new mattress at least 30 nights before judging it — your body is still adjusting.
- Trial clock starts on delivery day, not order day; confirm the start date in your confirmation email.
- Photograph the mattress before pickup — some brands dispute 'damage' claims at return time.
- Watch for exchange-only policies: a few '365-night trials' only let you swap models, not get money back.
