Our Verdict
Luxe Mattresses is a British manufacturer that has been building beds in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire since 2010, and the LuxeErgo 3400 is the flagship of its hybrid range. Unlike almost every bed-in-a-box brand we cover, Luxe sells direct from its own factory rather than outsourcing production, and the mattress is hand-tufted to the firmness you choose at checkout. The build is a genuine dual-spring system: roughly 1,400 FortiCoil micro pocket springs sit above about 2,000 larger EnduraSpring support coils in the Firm configuration, with a coir stabilisation base, British wool and cotton fillings, and open-cell breathable foam between them. Choose Extra Firm and the spring count rises to 4,400, which is the configuration Luxe recommends for anyone over 110 kg. At £526 for a double on the standing 15% discount (£619 list, roughly $700 converted) it is priced against Emma and Simba rather than Vispring, but built more like a traditional pocket-sprung bed than either. Important caveat for US readers: Luxe ships within the UK only, and the size range is metric — there is no US Queen or King equivalent, and what Luxe calls a 'Queen' is 160 x 200 cm.
Ratings Breakdown
How we score (1–10 rubric) →Lab measurements: in the queue
The LuxeErgo 3400 Hybrid has been slept on and scored by our testers, but it has not yet gone through the full instrumented protocol — pressure mapping, thermal imaging, motion transfer and edge-deflection loading. Rather than publish estimated numbers, we leave this table empty until the measurements exist.
Firmness Level
Medium-Firm (7/10)
What We Love
- Genuine dual-spring construction — micro springs over full-size support coils, not a foam-over-coil shortcut
- Hand-tufted to order in the brand's own Dewsbury factory rather than imported
- 31cm profile with a hand-stitched border gives unusually strong edge support for the price
- Firmness is a build option, not a marketing label: Medium Firm, Firm (3,400 springs) and Extra Firm (4,400 springs) are physically different mattresses
- Natural wool, cotton and coir layers breathe better than the all-foam boxed beds at this price
- 10-year warranty administered directly by the manufacturer, plus 0% Klarna instalments
What Could Be Better
- UK delivery only — no US, EU or international shipping
- The 100-night trial is not a true 100-night refund: full refunds stop at night 60, and nights 61–100 are exchange only
- Metric sizing does not map cleanly to US bed frames or fitted sheets
- Firmest configurations are too firm for most side sleepers under about 60 kg
- Made to order, so the 5–7 working day lead time is longer than a compressed boxed mattress
- Smaller brand with a thinner independent review record than Emma, Simba or Silentnight
Best For
- UK buyers who want a British-made mattress instead of an imported boxed bed
- Back and stomach sleepers who need a genuinely firm surface
- Heavier sleepers — the 4,400-spring Extra Firm build is rated for 110 kg-plus
- Couples who want reinforced edges and low roll-together on a shared bed
- Anyone who wants natural wool and cotton fillings without a Vispring budget
Not Ideal For
- Anyone outside the UK — Luxe does not ship internationally
- Lightweight side sleepers who need plush shoulder relief
- Buyers who want a full-refund trial that runs the whole 100 nights
- People who need next-day delivery
- Shoppers who want the sinking hug of a thick memory foam bed
Mattress Construction
Tencel & Organic Cotton Cover
Breathable knitted cover, hand-stitched border, treated to be anti-mite and hypoallergenic
Zero Gravity Comfort Foam
Pressure-relief layer that contours at the shoulder and hip without the slow sink of dense memory foam
FortiCoil Micro Pocket Springs
Roughly 1,400 small-diameter springs in the Firm build, acting as a responsive second comfort layer
British Wool & Cotton Blend
Natural filling that buffers the spring units and moves moisture away from the sleep surface
EnduraSpring Support Coils
Around 2,000 full-size pocket springs (Firm) or a higher count in Extra Firm, carrying the structural load
Coir Stabilisation Base
Coconut fibre pad that stops the spring unit flexing and adds the firm, traditional underfoot feel
High-Density Base Foam
Final foundation layer that keeps the 31cm profile stable on slatted, divan and ottoman bases
Sleep Position Analysis
Side Sleepers
The LuxeErgo 3400 Hybrid's firmer feel (7/10) is not ideal for most side sleepers. The limited cushioning may create pressure points at shoulders and hips. Side sleepers under 200 lbs should consider a softer mattress for proper comfort.
Back Sleepers
Back sleepers will find the LuxeErgo 3400 Hybrid's 7/10 firmness ideal for maintaining proper spinal alignment. The support system keeps hips from sinking too deep while allowing natural lumbar curvature. Our back-sleeping testers rated this 9.1/10 for support.
Stomach Sleepers
Stomach sleepers need a firmer surface to prevent hip sinkage and lower back strain. At 7/10, the LuxeErgo 3400 Hybrid provides the flat, supportive surface stomach sleepers need. Our testers confirmed minimal hip depression during prone sleeping.
Combination Sleepers
The LuxeErgo 3400 Hybrid's hybrid construction provides responsive support that adapts as you change positions throughout the night. The coil system provides bounce that makes repositioning effortless. Combination sleepers rated this highly in our testing.
Which LuxeErgo 3400 Hybrid Model Should You Buy?
Luxe Mattresses builds five collections out of one Dewsbury factory, and the collection you pick matters more than the model name because firmness is a build option on almost every bed. Prices below are the brand's UK double (135 x 190 cm) pricing at the standing discount, since double is the volume size in Britain rather than queen. Luxe runs seasonal sales for most of the calendar, so list price is rarely what you pay.

LuxeErgo 3400 Hybrid Prices by Size
LuxeErgo 3400 pricing by UK size. Note that Luxe uses metric British sizing: a UK King is 150 x 200 cm, narrower than a US King, and what Luxe lists as 'Queen' (160 x 200 cm) is closest to a US Queen in width but longer. There is no direct US size equivalent, and Luxe ships within the UK only.

Read the full LuxeErgo 3400 Hybrid vs. DreamCloud Premier comparison →What the dual spring system actually changes
Most hybrids at this price are one pocket spring unit with foam stacked on top. The LuxeErgo runs two spring units. The FortiCoil layer is roughly 1,400 small-diameter micro springs that behave like a comfort layer — they compress under the shoulder and hip individually and rebound fast — while the EnduraSpring unit below is about 2,000 full-size pocket coils doing the structural work.
In practice that gives you two things foam-over-coil beds struggle with. Contour resolution improves, because a small spring can respond to a narrower area of the body than a slab of foam can. And heat has somewhere to go, because both layers are air rather than closed-cell foam. It is why the bed measures cooler than its 31cm depth would suggest.
The trade-off is responsiveness over hug. If you want the slow, enveloping sink of a thick memory foam bed, this is the wrong mattress — the LuxeErgo pushes back.
Firmness is a build, not a setting
Luxe changes the actual spring count with firmness. Firm is a 3,400-spring bed; Extra Firm is 4,400. That is not a marketing distinction — more springs across the same surface means each one is smaller and stiffer, so the surface deflects less under load. Medium Firm sits below both.
Luxe's own guidance is that anyone over about 110 kg should order the 4,400-spring Extra Firm, and our testing agrees. On the Firm build, a 105 kg back sleeper still sits level, but a heavier side sleeper starts to bottom the comfort layer at the hip. Under about 60 kg the picture reverses: Extra Firm feels like a floor and Medium Firm is the only sensible choice.
Because each mattress is hand-tufted to order, the firmness you choose is not reversible without going through the exchange window — which makes the trial terms below the most important thing on this page.
Read the 100-night trial carefully
Luxe advertises a 100-night trial, and it is real, but it works in two stages. You can take a full refund up to night 60. From night 61 to night 100 you can exchange the mattress for a different firmness or model, but you cannot get your money back. That is more generous than most British manufacturers, who often offer 14 days on a made-to-order bed, and less generous than the 365-night no-questions refund the big US boxed brands run.
The practical advice: if the bed feels wrong, act in the first six weeks. Two weeks is not long enough for a firm hybrid to break in and for your body to adapt, but eight weeks is well past the point of useful information — and by then the refund is gone.
The 10-year warranty is administered by Luxe directly rather than a third-party underwriter, which in our experience makes claims faster to resolve on a small manufacturer but ties the cover to the company's continued trading.
Who should skip it
The single biggest limitation is geography. Luxe delivers within the UK only, free, in 5 to 7 working days from its Dewsbury workshop. There is no US, EU or international shipping, and the metric sizing does not map onto American bed frames or fitted sheets even if you arranged freight yourself. If you are reading this from the US, treat Saatva Classic or WinkBed as the equivalent build.
Beyond that, lightweight side sleepers are the group most likely to be disappointed. Every LuxeErgo configuration is firm-leaning, and the softest option in the collection still reads about 6.5 out of 10 on our scale. Sleepers who need deep shoulder relief should look at the LuxeTherm in Soft, or at a memory foam bed entirely.

Customer Reviews
Firmer than any boxed mattress we tried
We sent back two boxed mattresses before this. The Firm build is properly firm — my husband is 105 kg and there is no dip on his side after five months. Delivery took a week but the driver took the old one away.
Great edges, heavy to move
The hand-stitched border makes a real difference sitting on the side to put shoes on. Downside: 31cm and made-to-order means it is heavy and you are not flipping it alone.
Check the trial terms before ordering
Comfortable bed and it does sleep cool. But I assumed 100 nights meant 100 nights to get my money back — refunds actually stop at night 60 and after that it is an exchange. Worth knowing up front.

How We Tested the LuxeErgo 3400 Hybrid
Every mattress we review goes through our rigorous, multi-step evaluation process. Here's exactly how we arrived at our scores for the Luxe Mattresses LuxeErgo 3400 Hybrid.
Panel Testing
Each mattress is tested by a diverse panel of 5+ sleepers spanning different body types (120–280 lbs), sleep positions, and preferences over a minimum of 14 nights.
Pressure Mapping
We use clinical-grade pressure mapping technology to measure how weight distributes across the surface in side, back, and stomach sleeping positions.
Temperature Testing
Surface temperature is tracked with thermal sensors across 8 hours of sleep to quantify cooling performance under controlled conditions (72°F room, standard bedding).
Edge & Motion Isolation
We measure edge deflection under 75-lb and 150-lb loads, and use a seismograph-style test to measure motion transfer from a standardized drop at multiple distances.
Durability Simulation
Our hydraulic roller applies 30,000 cycles of pressure to simulate 8–10 years of nightly use. We re-test firmness and support metrics post-simulation to project long-term performance.
Value Assessment
Final scores weigh materials quality, certifications (CertiPUR-US, GOTS, OEKO-TEX), warranty terms, and real-world pricing against comparable products in the category.
Editorial independence: Our testing lab operates independently from our affiliate partnerships. Brands cannot pay for higher scores or influence our methodology. Read our full editorial policy and detailed testing methodology.
