    If your mattress sleeps hot, a cooling topper is usually the first fix worth trying — it is far cheaper than replacing the mattress and addresses the surface where heat actually builds up.

    The honest caveat: no passive topper actively cools you. The good ones simply stop trapping heat the way dense memory foam does. If you need your bed to feel cold rather than merely neutral, you are shopping for an active cooling system, not a topper.
