Our Verdict
Novosbed is the premium all-foam bed from GoodMorning.com, the independent Edmonton company that also builds Douglas, Logan & Cove, and Juno. It launched in 2009, which makes it one of the original bed-in-a-box mattresses in North America, and it has stayed committed to a classic memory foam feel while most of the category chased hybrids. The build is 11 inches: a 4-inch memory foam comfort section over a 7-inch high-density support core, in a removable Tencel cover. You pick Soft, Medium, or Firm, and if the feel is slightly off, Novosbed ships a free Comfort+ kit — a zip-in half-inch foam layer that nudges the bed softer or firmer without a return. A Queen sits around $999, which is aggressive for foam this dense (3.7 to 5 lb/ft³ published) backed by a 15-year warranty.
Ratings Breakdown
How we score (1–10 rubric) →Lab measurements: in the queue
The Novosbed Memory Foam Mattress has been slept on and scored by our testers, but it has not yet gone through the full instrumented protocol — pressure mapping, thermal imaging, motion transfer and edge-deflection loading. Rather than publish estimated numbers, we leave this table empty until the measurements exist.
Firmness Level
Medium (6/10)
What We Love
- True slow-sinking memory foam contour — one of the deepest hugs still sold direct
- Near-perfect motion isolation; a partner getting up is essentially undetectable
- Free Comfort+ kit adjusts firmness in year one instead of forcing a return
- Published foam densities (3.7-5 lb/ft³) instead of vague 'premium foam' marketing
- 15-year warranty and a 120-night full-refund trial at a sub-$1,000 Queen price
What Could Be Better
- Low bounce — the classic memory foam trade-off for responsiveness and sex
- Runs warmer than a coil hybrid despite the Tencel cover and open-cell foams
- No coil option in the lineup; hybrid shoppers have to look at sister brand Logan & Cove
- Comfort+ takes about 30 days of break-in before Novosbed will ship it
- Availability shifts between US and Canada depending on the season
Best For
- Sleepers who specifically want a deep memory foam hug, not a neutral foam feel
- Couples where one person wakes at any movement
- Side sleepers with shoulder and hip pressure points
- Buyers who want a firmness safety net without shipping a mattress back
- Anyone shopping foam under $1,000 who cares about foam density
Not Ideal For
- Hot sleepers who need coil airflow
- Combination sleepers who reposition constantly and want quick response
- Stomach sleepers over 250 lb who need coil-level lift
- Buyers who want a bouncy, responsive surface
Mattress Construction
Tencel Cover
Removable, washable Tencel-blend cover that moves moisture better than a standard poly knit
Comfort Layer
4" of memory foam tuned to the firmness you order — the source of the slow, contouring sink
Support Core
7" high-density base foam (up to 5 lb/ft³) that sets the spinal support and keeps the edges usable
Comfort+ Layer (optional)
Free zip-in half-inch foam layer sent after 30 nights if the bed sleeps too soft or too firm
Sleep Position Analysis
Side Sleepers
At 6/10 firmness, the Novosbed Memory Foam Mattress works well for average-weight side sleepers (130-230 lbs). Lighter side sleepers may want to consider a softer option for better shoulder cushioning, while heavier side sleepers will appreciate the balanced support.
Back Sleepers
Back sleepers will find the Novosbed Memory Foam Mattress's 6/10 firmness ideal for maintaining proper spinal alignment. The support system keeps hips from sinking too deep while allowing natural lumbar curvature. Our back-sleeping testers rated this 8.7/10 for support.
Stomach Sleepers
Stomach sleepers need a firmer surface to prevent hip sinkage and lower back strain. At 6/10, the Novosbed Memory Foam Mattress provides the flat, supportive surface stomach sleepers need. Our testers confirmed minimal hip depression during prone sleeping.
Combination Sleepers
The Novosbed Memory Foam Mattress's memory foam construction contours to each sleep position but may resist quick position changes. Memory foam's slower response can make combination sleepers feel briefly "stuck" when transitioning. If you change positions frequently, consider a hybrid alternative.
Which Novosbed Memory Foam Mattress Model Should You Buy?
Novosbed sells one mattress in three firmnesses rather than a tiered lineup — the build is identical and only the comfort foam changes. It sits at the top of GoodMorning.com's family, above Juno (budget), Douglas (mid-range), and alongside Logan & Cove (luxury hybrid), so if you want coils you shop a sibling brand rather than a different Novosbed.
| Model | Firmness | Best for | Queen |
|---|---|---|---|
| Novosbed Soft | 4/10 | Side sleepers under 150 lb, shoulder and hip pressureDeepest hug of the three. Light side sleepers who bottomed out on medium-firm foam usually land here. | $999 |
| Novosbed Medium | 6/10 | Most side and back sleepers, couples who disagreeThe best-selling configuration and the safest starting point, because Comfort+ can push it either direction later. | $999 |
| Novosbed Firm | 8/10 | Back and stomach sleepers, 230 lb and upStill memory foam contouring, but with far less sink. Heavier back sleepers who float on Medium should order this. | $999 |
| Comfort+ kit | ±1 firmness step | Fine-tuning after 30 nightsA half-inch zip-in layer in a softer or firmer formulation. It is the reason Novosbed's return rate stays low. | Free within the trial |

Most mattress companies solve a wrong-firmness problem with a return: you box the bed, wait for pickup, and start over. Novosbed's answer is Comfort+, a free half-inch memory foam layer in either a softer or firmer formulation that zips into the existing cover on top of the comfort section. It shifts the feel roughly one firmness step in whichever direction you need.
The catch is timing. Novosbed asks you to sleep on the bed for about 30 nights before requesting the kit, because dense memory foam genuinely changes as it breaks in and body heat conditions the top layer. Requests inside the first month usually get a wait-it-out reply. Once shipped, installation takes minutes and there is no charge and nothing to send back.
If Comfort+ still does not fix it, the 120-night trial remains a full refund. In practice the kit resolves most complaints, which is why Novosbed can offer a shorter trial than the 365-night marketing windows without hurting buyers.
Foam density is the number that matters here
Novosbed publishes its foam densities — roughly 3.7 lb/ft³ in the memory foam comfort section and up to 5 lb/ft³ in the support core. Almost nobody in the online category does this, and it is the single best predictor of how long a foam mattress lasts before body impressions set in. Sub-3 lb/ft³ comfort foam is where premature sagging comes from.
That density is also why the bed feels the way it does. Denser viscoelastic foam responds slower and holds its shape longer, giving you the deliberate sink that memory foam buyers are actually shopping for. It is the opposite design goal from the fast-response 'memory foam feel' foams most boxed beds now use.
The trade-off you accept: slower response and more heat retention than a coil hybrid. The Tencel cover and open-cell top help, but physics still applies — foam surrounds you, coils move air.
Who should skip Novosbed
Combination sleepers who change position five or six times a night will fight the surface. Dense memory foam takes a beat to recover, so repositioning feels like more work than it does on a hybrid or a latex bed. The same low bounce that makes motion isolation near-perfect is what makes the bed poor for sex.
Hot sleepers should be honest with themselves too. Novosbed sleeps cooler than a 2015-era memory foam bed, but it is not a cooling mattress. If you routinely wake up sweating, a coil hybrid — including GoodMorning.com's own Logan & Cove — is the more reliable answer.
The GoodMorning.com family, explained
Novosbed is not a standalone startup. It is the premium foam brand inside GoodMorning.com, an independent Edmonton company founded by the Prochazka siblings that also owns Juno, Douglas, and Logan & Cove. It is not owned by a retail chain, which matters if you care about who actually stands behind the 15-year warranty.
The practical value of the family is that if Novosbed is the wrong feel, the same company sells the alternative. Douglas is the value foam pick, Logan & Cove is the euro-top hybrid, and Juno is the entry price. Warranty and support run through the same organization either way.

Customer Reviews
The Comfort+ kit saved the purchase
Ordered Medium and it felt a touch firm after a month. Emailed support, they shipped the softer Comfort+ layer free, and it zipped into the cover in five minutes. Feels exactly right now and I never boxed anything up.
My wife's 5am alarm no longer wakes me
This is the quietest bed we have owned. She gets up, I feel nothing. The trade is that it is slow to respond — rolling over takes a beat. Worth it for the sleep we get.
Great foam, slightly warm in summer
Pressure relief on my shoulder is the best I have had, and the cover is genuinely nice. In July I do notice it holds heat more than the hybrid we had before. Cotton sheets and a fan solve it.

How We Tested the Novosbed Memory Foam Mattress
Every mattress we review goes through our rigorous, multi-step evaluation process. Here's exactly how we arrived at our scores for the Novosbed Novosbed Memory Foam Mattress.
Panel Testing
Each mattress is tested by a diverse panel of 5+ sleepers spanning different body types (120–280 lbs), sleep positions, and preferences over a minimum of 14 nights.
Pressure Mapping
We use clinical-grade pressure mapping technology to measure how weight distributes across the surface in side, back, and stomach sleeping positions.
Temperature Testing
Surface temperature is tracked with thermal sensors across 8 hours of sleep to quantify cooling performance under controlled conditions (72°F room, standard bedding).
Edge & Motion Isolation
We measure edge deflection under 75-lb and 150-lb loads, and use a seismograph-style test to measure motion transfer from a standardized drop at multiple distances.
Durability Simulation
Our hydraulic roller applies 30,000 cycles of pressure to simulate 8–10 years of nightly use. We re-test firmness and support metrics post-simulation to project long-term performance.
Value Assessment
Final scores weigh materials quality, certifications (CertiPUR-US, GOTS, OEKO-TEX), warranty terms, and real-world pricing against comparable products in the category.
Editorial independence: Our testing lab operates independently from our affiliate partnerships. Brands cannot pay for higher scores or influence our methodology. Read our full editorial policy and detailed testing methodology.
