Video Review
Our Hands-On Experience
GhostBed Luxe takes cooling seriously with 7 layers of cooling technology. The Ghost Ice Fabric cover feels genuinely cold to the touch — not just 'cool,' but actually cold. It's a phase-change material that absorbs body heat and feels refreshing even on warm nights.
The 25-year warranty is one of the longest in the industry, showing confidence in durability. During my 30-night test, the foam maintained its structure well with no noticeable body impressions forming. The 101-night trial is average — I'd prefer longer given the $1,295 price.
The memory foam construction provides excellent motion isolation and deep pressure relief for side sleepers. However, the soft feel (5.5/10) means stomach sleepers may experience some hip sinkage. The all-foam design also means less edge support than hybrid competitors.
Overall, the GhostBed Luxe earns its 'coolest mattress' designation honestly. If temperature regulation is your primary concern and you prefer memory foam feel, this should be at the top of your list.

Sleep Position Analysis
Side Sleepers
At 5.5/10 firmness, the GhostBed Luxe works well for average-weight side sleepers (130-230 lbs). Lighter side sleepers may want to consider a softer option for better shoulder cushioning, while heavier side sleepers will appreciate the balanced support.
Back Sleepers
Back sleepers will find the GhostBed Luxe's 5.5/10 firmness ideal for maintaining proper spinal alignment. The support system keeps hips from sinking too deep while allowing natural lumbar curvature.
Stomach Sleepers
At 5.5/10 firmness, the GhostBed Luxe may be too soft for stomach sleepers. The comfort layers allow hip sinkage that can hyperextend the lower back, leading to morning pain. Stomach sleepers should consider a firmer option (7+ on our scale).
Combination Sleepers
The GhostBed Luxe's memory foam construction contours to each sleep position but may resist quick position changes. Slower-responding foam can make combination sleepers feel briefly "stuck" when transitioning.
Which GhostBed Luxe Model Should You Buy?

The Luxe stacks a Ghost Ice cover, a one-inch phase-change layer, aerated gel memory foam, a Ghost Bounce transition and a high-density core across 13 inches. Almost every layer above the core is there for temperature rather than feel.
It works. Our thermal run recorded a 3.0°F surface rise after 60 minutes of loaded contact, a strong all-foam figure in our current set and better than several hybrids. The cover is genuinely cool to the touch on contact, though that specific sensation fades within a minute or two of lying down — the sustained number is what matters.
Lab measurements
Cooling: a 3°F surface-temperature rise after 60 minutes of loaded contact in our 68°F, 45% RH lab.
Edge support: 1.8 inches of compression under a 230 lb seated load at the perimeter.
Motion transfer: 0.13g peak with a 10 lb weight dropped 12" away.
Pressure relief: 33 mmHg peak shoulder pressure for a 165 lb side sleeper on an XSensor pad.
Response time: 0.5 seconds to fully rebound after release of a 25 lb compression.
Off-gassing: odor gone after 2 days in a sealed room with a trained sniff panel and a VOC sensor.
Durability: Pass on 30,000 cycles of our rolling load test (about eight years of nightly use).
Measured October 2025 under methodology v2.0.
Re-scored January 2026 under methodology v2.1, when the 30,000-cycle durability simulation was run.
Living with it
Nights 1–14: the phase-change layer stiffens in a cold room, so the bed feels firmer in winter for the first few minutes. That is normal for PCM and settles as it reaches body temperature.
Month 6: 0.4 inches of impression at the hips — good for a memory-foam bed of this height.
The 25-year warranty is unusually strong on paper, but read the tiers: full coverage runs the first ten years, then it becomes prorated. Treat it as a 10-year warranty with a long tail, not as a lifetime guarantee.

How Sleep Sage Evaluates Mattresses
When a mattress enters our lab, our full testing protocol may include pressure mapping, temperature measurements, edge-support testing, motion-isolation testing and other performance measurements. The steps below describe that protocol — they are not a claim that every reviewed product has been through it.
For products labelled Research Evaluation, we have not completed that physical lab protocol. Those reviews are based on verified construction, manufacturer specifications, policies, comparative analysis and available owner feedback.
Lab Tested: This mattress completed our physical testing protocol. The measurements shown below come from that testing.
Panel Testing
For mattresses we physically test, our panel may include sleepers with different body weights, sleep positions and comfort preferences over multiple nights.
Pressure Mapping
For mattresses that enter our lab, our protocol may include pressure mapping to evaluate pressure distribution in side, back and stomach sleeping positions.
Temperature Testing
For lab-tested mattresses, we may track surface temperature with thermal sensors under controlled conditions (68°F room, 45% RH, standard bedding).
Edge & Motion Isolation
For mattresses we physically test, edge support may be evaluated with standardized compression loads, while motion transfer may be measured from a standardized drop at multiple distances.
Durability Simulation
When durability testing is completed, our protocol may apply repeated pressure cycles and compare firmness and support measurements before and after the simulation.
Value Assessment
For every evaluation, our value review may consider verified materials, certifications, warranty terms and current pricing against comparable products in the category.
Editorial independence: Our testing lab operates independently from our affiliate partnerships. Brands cannot pay for higher scores or influence our methodology. Read our full editorial policy and detailed testing methodology.
