WinkBeds EcoCloud

The EcoCloud runs a GOTS organic cotton cover quilted with New Zealand wool, then a Talalay latex comfort layer, then WinkBeds' zoned pocketed coil unit with heavier wire at the lumbar and perimeter. Total height is roughly 13 inches.

Talalay latex behaves differently from foam: it pushes back rather than melting, so the bed reads as buoyant. Combination sleepers move on it more easily than on any foam-topped hybrid at this price, and the wool layer manages moisture in a way synthetic covers do not.

Cooling: a 3.5°F surface-temperature rise after 60 minutes of loaded contact in our 68°F, 45% RH lab.

Edge support: 2.1 inches of compression under a 230 lb seated load at the perimeter.

Motion transfer: 0.05g peak with a 10 lb weight dropped 12" away.

Pressure relief: 29 mmHg peak shoulder pressure for a 165 lb side sleeper on an XSensor pad.

Response time: 1.2 seconds to fully rebound after release of a 25 lb compression.

Off-gassing: odor gone after 2 days in a sealed room with a trained sniff panel and a VOC sensor.

Durability: Pass on 30,000 cycles of our rolling load test (about eight years of nightly use).

Latex is the most durable comfort material in mainstream mattresses. At six months our EcoCloud showed 0.2 inches of impression — the smallest figure in this wave — and latex beds routinely stay serviceable past the decade mark.

Certifications: GOTS organic cotton and wool, and OEKO-TEX on the latex. Note that the EcoCloud is not a fully certified organic mattress in the way an Avocado is; the coil unit and adhesives are conventional. If certification is the point rather than the materials, compare carefully.

The lifetime warranty covers sagging over 1.5 inches and WinkBeds sells replacement covers, which is the practical reason we rate its long-term value above most organic competitors.
