Kluft Beyond Luxury Sublime

Nearly every mattress you can buy has its comfort layers quilted to the cover by machine. Kluft hand-ties them through the full depth of the mattress with twine and rosettes, which is slower and considerably more expensive — and which stops the fill from shifting or thinning over years of use.

It's the single clearest visual marker of a genuinely traditional luxury build.

Plush at the surface, around 5 out of 10, with the support arriving from the spring layers rather than from a firm foam base. Side sleepers get real shoulder and hip relief; back sleepers do fine because the springs hold the lumbar despite the soft top.

Temperature is neutral to cool. Cashmere, silk and New Zealand wool all move moisture, and there's minimal foam in the stack to store heat. Strict stomach sleepers should take the firmer Sublime build instead.

At roughly $8,999 for a queen, the Sublime uses a fill list comparable to European beds costing three to five times as much, made in California with US retailer support and a serviceable dealer network. If the goal is the materials and craftsmanship rather than a specific European brand, this is where the money goes furthest.

It also benefits from something the European brands don't offer: US luxury retailers discount around holidays. Buying a Kluft during a major sale event changes the value equation meaningfully, which is never the case with Hästens or Vispring.
