Vibe sells the plush end of the Amazon budget tier: 12 inches of gel memory foam for around $300, which is more material per dollar than anything else in the category.

That thickness is the point. The most common failure of cheap mattresses is that a side sleeper's shoulder bottoms out through a thin comfort layer; twelve inches of foam gives it somewhere to go. Motion isolation is the best we have measured in the budget tier — you genuinely cannot feel a partner move.

The cost of all that foam is heat. Gel infusion slows warming but does not create airflow, and with no coils there is no path for air to move. Hot sleepers should buy a budget hybrid instead.
