Technogel Mattress Review
Italian medical-grade gel sleeping surfaces, not foam.
About Technogel
Technogel's parent company has made polyurethane gel for medical and orthopaedic applications since 1980 — wheelchair cushions, surgical positioners, prosthetic liners — before applying the same material to mattresses and pillows.
The gel is a genuinely different material from gel-infused memory foam: it is a soft, elastic solid that deforms sideways as well as downward, which spreads load across a wider area than foam compression alone.
In practice that means very even pressure distribution and a cool surface, because gel has far higher thermal conductivity than foam. It is heavy, expensive, and niche — but for pressure-sensitive sleepers and pillow buyers it is one of very few materials that does something foam cannot.
What they make
Gel-layer mattresses, gel pillows, and gel toppers built on the parent company's medical-grade polyurethane gel.
Origin
Italian — gel manufactured in Italy
Technogel Signature Technologies
Technogel Layer
A soft elastic polyurethane gel that deforms laterally as well as vertically, distributing pressure across a wider contact area than foam.
High Thermal Conductivity
Gel draws heat away from the skin far faster than memory foam, giving a genuinely cool contact surface.
Medical-Grade Heritage
The same gel formulation used in orthopaedic and surgical pressure-relief products.
Best for
- Pressure-sensitive sleepers, including those with hip and shoulder pain
- Hot sleepers who want contouring without heat
- Pillow buyers who have failed with foam and down
- Buyers who want a material with clinical provenance
Not ideal for
- Budget shoppers — pricing is high across the range
- Anyone who moves the mattress often; gel layers are heavy
- Sleepers who want bounce and a springy surface

Technogel FAQ
Is Technogel the same as gel memory foam?
No. Gel memory foam is foam with gel beads or swirls added. Technogel is a solid elastic polyurethane gel layer — a completely different material that deforms sideways under load and conducts heat away far faster than foam.
Is a Technogel pillow worth it?
It is the easiest way to try the material. The gel top holds a cool surface far longer than memory foam and distributes head and neck pressure very evenly, which suits side sleepers with jaw or ear pressure issues.
Where can I buy Technogel in the US?
Through specialty sleep retailers rather than the mass channel. Availability is limited compared with mainstream brands, and trying it in person is worth the effort because the feel is genuinely unlike foam or latex.
