About Purple

Purple launched in 2015 with viral marketing (the famous "raw egg test" videos) and a genuinely novel product: a Hyper-Elastic Polymer grid originally engineered by founders Tony and Terry Pearce for industrial cushioning applications. The grid collapses under pressure points (hips, shoulders) but stays firm under support zones, producing a feel that doesn't resemble foam or coils.

We have not conducted a quantified preference panel. Try a specific grid model in person when practical because its feel differs from conventional foam.

Which Purple mattress is best?

For most buyers, the Purple Plus (one inch of additional comfort foam under the grid) hits the sweet spot of pressure relief and grid feel. The Restore and RestorePremier add hybrid coil support for more bounce. The original Purple Mattress is firm and best for stomach sleepers or budget shoppers.
