    About Vispring

Vispring invented the individually pocketed coil spring in 1901 — the technology underneath nearly every quality mattress sold today. The company still hand-nests its springs in calico pockets in Plymouth, England, the same city where it began, and originally supplied beds for first-class ocean liner cabins including the Queen Mary.

The Vispring build is the classic English bed: hand-nested pocket springs, hand-teased British fleece wool and other natural fills, hand-tufted covers, and hand side-stitched borders. No foam, no glue laminations, no synthetic comfort layers anywhere in the range.

Vispring sells exclusively through authorized retailers, with each buyer fitted for one of four spring tensions. The 30-year guarantee — the longest we have ever verified in the industry — is honored through the dealer network.

    What they make

Handcrafted pocket-spring mattresses and divans across a wide price ladder, plus headboards, toppers, and bedding.

British — every mattress is hand-made in the Plymouth workshop

    Vispring Signature Technologies

    Hand-Nested Calico Pocket Springs

Springs in breathable calico pockets are nested by hand — not glued — so each one moves independently. Flagships stack up to three spring layers.

    Hand Side-Stitching

Borders are sewn to the perimeter springs by hand, delivering real edge support without foam rails.

    Spring Tension Fitting

Four tension options (soft, medium, firm, extra firm) chosen at purchase; couples can split tensions per side.

    Best for

    • Buyers wanting genuine handcraft from around $4,000
    • Back and stomach sleepers who like a buoyant, supportive feel
    • Long-horizon buyers — the 30-year guarantee is unmatched
    • Couples needing different firmness per side

    Not ideal for

    • Plush pillow-top lovers
    • Shoppers wanting online checkout and doorstep unboxing
    • Platform-bed owners unwilling to pair with a divan or sprung base

    Vispring FAQ

What is the difference between Vispring and Hästens?

Both are hand-built natural-material beds, but they feel different. Hästens is springier and airier, built around horsehair with exceptional moisture handling. Vispring is more traditionally English — buoyant pocket springs with wool-rich comfort layers — and offers a much wider price ladder starting around $4,000 versus Hästens' roughly $12,500 entry. Vispring's 30-year guarantee also outlasts Hästens' 25-year warranty on paper.

Why does Vispring recommend a divan base?

The mattresses are engineered as half of a two-part system. A Vispring divan contains its own spring layer that works with the mattress springs above it; on flat slats or a platform, the mattress loses both softness and some support. If you buy a Vispring mattress, budget for the matching divan or a properly sprung alternative.

Is the Vispring 30-year guarantee real?

Yes — it is a genuine manufacturer guarantee serviced through authorized dealers, and it is transferable in the sense that the bed is covered, not just the original buyer relationship. It is the longest mattress guarantee we have verified anywhere in the industry.
