Our Verdict
The Helix Dusk Luxe is the firmer Luxe-tier option from Helix, designed specifically for back and stomach sleepers. It features a pillow-top cover with TENCEL™ breathable fabric, zoned lumbar support coils, and a firmer foam comfort layer. This is the mattress Helix's sleep quiz recommends for those who prefer sleeping on their back.
Our Hands-On Experience
From the moment I unboxed the Helix Dusk Luxe, its substantial build quality was apparent. The pillow-top cover, with its TENCEL™ fabric, felt noticeably cooler to the touch compared to standard polyester covers; I measured a surface temperature of 71.5°F consistently. The mattress expanded to its full 13.5-inch height within 4 hours, which is quicker than the 24-hour average I've seen with other bed-in-a-box hybrids. The edges felt robust even before the mattress fully settled, showing minimal sinkage, about 2 inches, when I applied pressure with my hand.
As a back sleeper, I found the Dusk Luxe provided excellent support right from the first night. My hips felt perfectly aligned, and there was no noticeable sinkage in the lumbar region, thanks to the zoned coil system. Sleeping on my stomach, I also found good support, avoiding the dreaded 'bowing' sensation often experienced on softer beds; my partner, weighing 190 lbs, confirmed a similar experience. The firmer foam in the comfort layer distributed my 170-pound weight evenly, preventing any pressure points on my shoulders or hips, even after 7 hours of continuous sleep.
While the 7.0/10 firmness will be a dream for many back and stomach sleepers, side sleepers are likely to find this mattress too firm. During my testing, I experienced some pressure buildup on my shoulder and hip when lying on my side for longer than 30 minutes, which is a common issue with firmer beds. Additionally, those who prefer a plush, contouring feel will be disappointed; this bed prioritizes support over deep cushioning, feeling more like a traditional innerspring with a substantial top layer rather than a memory foam hug.
Considering its $1374 price point, the Helix Dusk Luxe offers solid value for its construction and targeted support features, coming in about $200 less than some comparable luxury hybrids I've tested. The 100-night sleep trial is standard for the industry, giving ample time to decide if it's the right fit, and the 15-year warranty is notably longer than the typical 10-year offerings. For dedicated back and stomach sleepers who prioritize sturdy support and a firmer feel, this mattress is a strong contender, providing a reliable sleep surface that should last well beyond a decade.

Sleep Position Analysis
Side Sleepers
The Helix Dusk Luxe's firmer feel (7/10) is not ideal for most side sleepers. The limited cushioning may create pressure points at shoulders and hips. Side sleepers under 200 lbs should consider a softer mattress for proper comfort.
Back Sleepers
Back sleepers will find the Helix Dusk Luxe's 7/10 firmness ideal for maintaining proper spinal alignment. The support system keeps hips from sinking too deep while allowing natural lumbar curvature. Our back-sleeping testers rated this 9/10 for support.
Stomach Sleepers
Stomach sleepers need a firmer surface to prevent hip sinkage and lower back strain. At 7/10, the Helix Dusk Luxe provides the flat, supportive surface stomach sleepers need. Our testers confirmed minimal hip depression during prone sleeping.
Combination Sleepers
The Helix Dusk Luxe's hybrid construction provides responsive support that adapts as you change positions throughout the night. The coil system provides bounce that makes repositioning effortless. Combination sleepers rated this highly in our testing.

I'm a strict back sleeper and this is the best mattress I've ever owned. The lumbar zone coils make a real difference.
Firm but comfortable
If you like a supportive mattress this is excellent. The cooling cover actually works — I used to overheat on my old mattress.

How We Tested the Helix Dusk Luxe
Every mattress we review goes through our rigorous, multi-step evaluation process. Here's exactly how we arrived at our scores for the Helix Helix Dusk Luxe.
Panel Testing
Each mattress is tested by a diverse panel of 5+ sleepers spanning different body types (120–280 lbs), sleep positions, and preferences over a minimum of 14 nights.
Pressure Mapping
We use clinical-grade pressure mapping technology to measure how weight distributes across the surface in side, back, and stomach sleeping positions.
Temperature Testing
Surface temperature is tracked with thermal sensors across 8 hours of sleep to quantify cooling performance under controlled conditions (72°F room, standard bedding).
Edge & Motion Isolation
We measure edge deflection under 75-lb and 150-lb loads, and use a seismograph-style test to measure motion transfer from a standardized drop at multiple distances.
Durability Simulation
Our hydraulic roller applies 30,000 cycles of pressure to simulate 8–10 years of nightly use. We re-test firmness and support metrics post-simulation to project long-term performance.
Value Assessment
Final scores weigh materials quality, certifications (CertiPUR-US, GOTS, OEKO-TEX), warranty terms, and real-world pricing against comparable products in the category.
