Our verdict
The Sapira Chill Hybrid is Leesa's premium cooling hybrid, and it is one mattress sold in three comfort levels — Plush, Medium-Firm and Firm — rather than three separate products. Leesa specifies a seven-layer build at 14 inches: an Ultra Cool cover (73% polyester, 25% polyethylene, 2% spandex) with tailored side handles, two inches of quilt foam, 1.5 inches of 3 lb GreenFlex BioFoam certified under the USDA BioPreferred programme, an inch of responsive foam, an inch of transition support foam, eight inches of zoned lumbar springs and 0.75 inches of durable support foam. All foams are CertiPUR-US certified, and Leesa states its mattresses are made in a fiberglass-free factory using a rayon fire barrier. A queen weighs 103 lb and comes with free shipping, a 120-night trial and a limited lifetime warranty.

Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid Overview
The Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid is a 14-inch premium cooling hybrid in Plush, Medium-Firm and Firm comfort levels: an Ultra Cool cover, quilt foam, 3 lb USDA-certified GreenFlex BioFoam, responsive and transition foams over 8 inches of zoned lumbar springs. Fiberglass-free, CertiPUR-US foams, 120-night trial, limited lifetime warranty. Research evaluation.
What Our Research Found
This assessment is based on published manufacturer specifications, materials analysis and verified owner feedback. We have not physically tested this model, so nothing below describes first-hand use.
Leesa sells the Sapira Chill Hybrid as one mattress in three comfort levels — Plush, Medium-Firm and Firm — so this is one review, not three. Older directory listings that split the comfort levels into separate products are an artefact of how retailers list them, and they now point here.
Cooling is the pitch and the construction backs it up in two places rather than one. The Ultra Cool cover is a polyethylene-blend fabric designed to feel cool on contact, and the eight-inch zoned spring unit creates open air channels through the core that a solid foam bed cannot match. Leesa also publishes the GreenFlex BioFoam density — 3 lb — which is more than most brands disclose, and density is one of the few honest predictors of how a foam layer holds up.
Choose the comfort level carefully, because it is fixed at checkout. Leesa positions Plush for people who want to feel cradled, Medium-Firm as the balanced option it says most customers pick, and Firm for those who want to lie on top of the mattress rather than in it. The zoned springs are the same underneath all three.
Two things to weigh. The cover is a synthetic blend, so this is not the bed for someone shopping on natural materials. And the 120-night trial is a third of what Nectar or Saatva offer, which matters if you want a full season before deciding. Against that: a limited lifetime warranty, a fiberglass-free fire barrier and CertiPUR-US certified foams.

How we score (1–10 rubric) →Evaluated through published specifications, manufacturer information, verified owner feedback and materials analysis. Not physically tested in our lab. We do not publish cooling, motion-isolation, edge-support, pressure-relief, response, durability or off-gassing scores for the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid until the full protocol is complete. Everything below — construction, materials, firmness, pricing, trial and warranty — is verified specification and editorial analysis.

Rather than publish estimated numbers, we leave this table empty and publish no Sleep Sage performance scores until the measurements exist.
Firmness Level
Medium (6/10)
What We Love
- Three comfort levels — Plush, Medium-Firm and Firm — at the same price
- Cooling built into both the Ultra Cool cover and the open coil core, not just the surface
- Zoned lumbar springs concentrate support under the hips
- GreenFlex BioFoam at a published 3 lb density, USDA BioPreferred certified
- Fiberglass-free fire barrier and CertiPUR-US certified foams
What Could Be Better
- One feel per mattress — you choose the comfort level at checkout and cannot change it later
- 120-night trial is shorter than the year-long windows several rivals offer
- The cover is a synthetic blend rather than a natural fibre
- At 14 inches and 103 lb in a queen, deep-pocket sheets and help moving it are needed
- Coil counts are not published
Best For
- Hot sleepers who want cooling designed into several layers
- Side sleepers and couples who want a choice of comfort level
- Buyers who want a hotel-style quilted top with hybrid bounce
- Anyone who wants a published foam density to compare against
Not Ideal For
- Shoppers who want natural or organic cover materials
- Buyers who want a year-long trial
- Anyone who dislikes committing to a firmness before sleeping on the bed

Sleep Position Analysis
Side Sleepers
At 6/10 firmness, the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid works well for average-weight side sleepers (130-230 lbs). Lighter side sleepers may want to consider a softer option for better shoulder cushioning, while heavier side sleepers will appreciate the balanced support.
Back Sleepers
Back sleepers will find the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid's 6/10 firmness ideal for maintaining proper spinal alignment. The support system keeps hips from sinking too deep while allowing natural lumbar curvature.
Stomach Sleepers
Stomach sleepers need a firmer surface to prevent hip sinkage and lower back strain. At 6/10, the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid provides the flat, supportive surface stomach sleepers need.
Combination Sleepers
The Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid's hybrid construction provides responsive support that adapts as you change positions. The coil unit gives back bounce that makes repositioning effortless.

Read the full Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid vs. Helix Midnight Luxe comparison →One mattress, three comfort levels — and why this is one review
Leesa builds the Sapira Chill Hybrid as a single product with a comfort-level choice at checkout: Plush, Medium-Firm or Firm, all at the same price and all on the same seven-layer, 14-inch chassis. The zoned lumbar spring unit, the Ultra Cool cover and the GreenFlex BioFoam layer do not change between them; the comfort foams do.
Retailers often list the three as separate products, which is why our old directory had a Sapira Chill Hybrid Plush stub alongside Medium-Firm and Firm. Those now point here. One canonical record, one review, three comfort levels documented inside it.
Where the cooling actually comes from
Two places, and both are construction rather than claim. The Ultra Cool cover is specified as 73% polyester, 25% polyethylene and 2% spandex — polyethylene being the fibre brands use for a cool-to-the-touch surface. Below the foams, the eight-inch zoned spring unit leaves open air channels through the core, which a solid foam bed cannot replicate.
This is a research evaluation. We have not run the Sapira Chill through our instrumented thermal protocol, so there is no surface-temperature figure or overnight measurement on this page. What is verifiable is the material specification and the structure, and the fact that Leesa publishes the GreenFlex BioFoam density at 3 lb — more disclosure than most brands at this price offer.
Policy, build quality and the gaps
Leesa gives a 120-night trial, free shipping within 5–8 business days and a limited lifetime warranty. All foams are CertiPUR-US certified, and Leesa states its mattresses are made in a fiberglass-free factory using a fire barrier of rayon-based yarn. The GreenFlex BioFoam is certified under the USDA BioPreferred programme.
The gaps are honest ones. The cover is a synthetic blend, so this is not a natural-materials bed. Coil counts are not published. And the comfort level is fixed at purchase — with a 120-night window rather than a year, choosing the wrong one costs you more than it would at a brand with a longer trial.

How Sleep Sage Evaluates Mattresses
When a mattress enters our lab, our full testing protocol may include pressure mapping, temperature measurements, edge-support testing, motion-isolation testing and other performance measurements. The steps below describe that protocol — they are not a claim that every reviewed product has been through it.
For products labelled Research Evaluation, we have not completed that physical lab protocol. Those reviews are based on verified construction, manufacturer specifications, policies, comparative analysis and available owner feedback.
Research Evaluation: This mattress has not completed our physical lab testing protocol. Our evaluation is based on verified construction, manufacturer specifications, policies, comparative analysis and available owner feedback.
Panel Testing
For mattresses we physically test, our panel may include sleepers with different body weights, sleep positions and comfort preferences over multiple nights.
Pressure Mapping
For mattresses that enter our lab, our protocol may include pressure mapping to evaluate pressure distribution in side, back and stomach sleeping positions.
Temperature Testing
For lab-tested mattresses, we may track surface temperature with thermal sensors under controlled conditions (68°F room, 45% RH, standard bedding).
Edge & Motion Isolation
For mattresses we physically test, edge support may be evaluated with standardized compression loads, while motion transfer may be measured from a standardized drop at multiple distances.
Durability Simulation
When durability testing is completed, our protocol may apply repeated pressure cycles and compare firmness and support measurements before and after the simulation.
Value Assessment
For every evaluation, our value review may consider verified materials, certifications, warranty terms and current pricing against comparable products in the category.
